Ed Motta - AOR

I find this album as an homage to Ed's main influences, specially for Steely Dan. This record must be Ed's best work of the decade (2010's) and as the album title says, this is nothing than pure AOR (Adult Oriented Rock) a very good record, probably in the top of Ed's best work and there's two versions, an english version and a portuguese version, I prefer the english version but both og them are great.

The best work of Marr as a solo artist so far. His previous work are good but this is, in my opinion, his most solid record. He mix prefectly his previous collaborations with bands like The Cribs and Modest Mouse with his "Smiths Touch" (melodies and arrangements) plus his experience with electronic music (Electronic, collabs. with the Pet Shop Boys) creating different ambients and moods with synths.

Fav. songs: Hi Hello, Day In Day Out.

By far the best work of O Terno. Tim, Guilherme and Biel took the best things of their previous release (Melhor Do Que Parece, 2016) and added maturity to create one of the best records of the year for Brazil, full of effects, highs and lows, horns, strings and great arrangements. The highlight of the record may be the collaboration with Devendra Banhart and japanese sensation Shintaro Sakamoto (Which I assume this will help to Shintaro being known in this side of the world)

My favorite record of all time.

The most ambitious record in the entire discography of the band. Layers and layers of guitars, a sitar, a bunch of incredible riffs, falsettos, an orchestra, awesome songs, funniest lyrics, lyrics about gardens, lyrics about cocaine, lyrics about flacid arms. This record has everything.

Produced by legendary Roy Thomas Baker (Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody) and recordered at bad times for the band (adiction problems and Frankie Poullain (bass) left the band before ... read more
