Running With Scissors

Woahh.. new Cavetown!? Awesomesauce :]

Haven't listened to this artist in a long time. This album does not sound like how I remembered his music either. Running With Scissors has a more Indietronica, hyperpop sound to it. The songs are rather short but still engaging and catchy. There are parts that ramp up to something big that I do wish were capitalized upon more though. Reaper is a good example of what I mean, ends abruptly too. The title track/ending song of the album also left a little more to be desired for me.

Other than that, I was pretty impressed at the quality of the music and the catchy songs of the album like Baby Spoon and Straight Through My Head (Do It!). Really enjoyed those songs as well as the lyrics that accompanied them! As someone who has intrusive thoughts a lot I found Tarmac to be quite relatable. Another stand out track for me is First time. Great lyrics and for a song thats only a minute and a half was still memorable for me.

Overall not a bad album. Yuhh
