The Black Keys - Let's Rock
80

If I wasn't a die hard fan this would get a 60.

GoldLink - Diaspora
63

Average album is average

Palehound - Black Friday
67

This album is fine, just fine. I think the issue is that it’s such a saturated market right now of this type of pop/indie rock with a soft spoken female vocalist (i.e. Soccer Mommy) that you need to make leaps and bounds to stand out from the crowd. This album just doesn’t do that for me.

Alex Lahey - The Best of Luck Club
74

Gotta love these Aussies OI OI OI

Alex Lahey seems to channel her inner Courtney Barnett on this album with the talking lyrics and power pop chords.

Favorite Tracks: I don’t get invited to Parties Anymore, Interior Demeanour, Misery Guts

Kishi Bashi - Omoiyari
80

I don't think there's a bad song on here.

Big Thief - U.F.O.F.
84

FANTASTIC Album. Finger-pickin’ good.

My personal fave from Big Thief – Lenker’s vocals pair well with the cumbersome vibe they’re going for. Beautiful & haunting at times, this is a must listen for 2019.

Marissa Nadler & Stephen Brodsky - Droneflower
79

What an interesting collaboration that somehow worked. Super dark sounds, so brace yourself.

Personal fave: Estranged

ScHoolboy Q - CrasH Talk
53

I don't think theres a single song on here I'll revisit.

The Chemical Brothers - No Geography
86

This is the best stuff the Chemical Brothers have put out in a while - they kick it off with a three song medley that is bound to get you bopping. No real low points on this album, extremely happy they rebounded!

Best songs: Eve of Destruction, Bango, No Geography, We've got to Try

Kevin Abstract - ARIZONA BABY
68

WHERES SATURATION FOUR

Anderson .Paak - Ventura
72

Enjoyable listen, but wished he took more time between albums to deliver a better record.

Priests - The Seduction of Kansas
70

Pretty underwhelming change of pace from their debut. They definitely get extra points for the creative lyrics they sing though.

PUP - Morbid Stuff
75

Scorpion Hill & Full Blown Meltdown are the jams

Laura Stevenson - The Big Freeze
75

Very strong album - if you're a fan of indie folk with a twist I'd highly recommend. She is soft spoken for all the right songs and escalates her voice when needed.

Also had the pleasure of meeting her after a Jeff Rosenstock show. At the very least, give this album a listen cause she is freakin' adorable and nice.

Fave track: Value Inn

Quelle Chris - Guns
77

Quality stuff - I'm still more prone to "Everything's Fine" release last year with Jean Grae, but I think that has to do with my taste. Catching hints of Open Mike Eagle with the feel of the tracks. Great work!

Billie Eilish - WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
74

Billie Eyelashes = Discount Lorde

Not bad though - the production is pretty solid, however you can hear the Generation Z come through in some of the lyrics.

Closing track “goodbye” gives me HEAVY vibes from The Beatles “Because”. Anyone else?

7.4/10

Bonus points for sampling The Office on a song though.

Little Simz - GREY Area
84

I'M A BOSS IN A FUCKING DRESS

Matmos - Plastic Anniversary
73

Even though Matmos is getting weird on this record, it's still pretty tame compared to their earlier releases - we need to get them back to that weird AF level.

Stephen Malkmus - Groove Denied
68
