50% of the tracks are bangers, (Yo, Whatever Dude, Snowmen, Everybody Knows, Ttktv) and the other 50% is just alright
Pretty consistent. A few 8/10 songs, a few 6/10s but it’s consistently a 7/10 album. Nothing special, it was fine.
Maybe the most positive 45 I’ll ever give an album. There are some VERY high points on this record but no song was “flawless” to me. Quite a few misses, actually. Usually the main problem of a song will be his mid rapping, or a corny chorus. That actually applies to literally every song, except for “Sweet”. I kinda love that one, probably cause he doesn’t rap on it and he does what he does best. His voice is great, and the production (besides the last song) ... read more
cool 80s album, some pretty great tracks, and her voice is amazing. Just a few songs I didn't really fw overall, like I wasn't really into Jig Of Life especially, but besides that song, the production is consistently dreamy and charming
pretty cool collab. Cudi discog review soon? Feel the Love and Freeee are my standouts.
The Life of Pablo if it wasn't insanely MID. Jokes aside, I count two songs total I don't fuck with (In this review I will be excluding the part twos), which are Tell The Vision and Lord I Need You. I don't know how a 23 track record kept me hooked for this long, but I have a feeling I will only like it more over time. He should've stopped making music here, cause it wasn't gonna get better.
this might be the most boring-ass, mediocre-ass, repetitive-ass, sleepy-ass pop record I've ever heard. I count 9 songs that mesh into a huge pile of the same boring and slow production, with forgettable sex lyrics and unremarkable choruses.
The Good:
motive (with Doja Cat)
six thirty
positions
obvious
The Bad: Everything Else
Incredible listen, leaves you wanting more, but not in a bad way, with it's short runtime. Almost flawless, but Wouldn't Leave doesn't really age well. I don't hate the song though, I still get the sentiment at the time. The track placements are perfect aswell. The first half of this record feels like him addressing his problems, and the second half of this record feels like he wants to make a change. Ghost Town is top 1 Kanye. ITAKY is top 10 Kanye. Violent Crimes is top 20 Kanye.
Yeah i have no clue what happened here. This album feels like the most major attempt to make hit songs I think I've ever heard. Only songs I really liked was the ones I had heard before a good few years ago on the radio. Also, almost every feature has absolutely no room to do they own thing, except for like Big Sean, who doesn't even do that well. Same problems as her last record. Lower Lows and Lower Highs.
don't really know how to review this so ill just point out the best and worst tracks.
BEST:
Lost in the World
Power
All of the Lights
WORST:
Jay-Z on Monster
Blame Game
Hell Of A Life
Kanye on Gorgeous
Ariana's early work always been one of those guilty pleasures for me, cause most of this album is SUPER outdated, like dub-step pop fusion type outdated (yikes). However (for the most part) It doesn't really bother me all that much. Definitely some forgettable tracks that mesh together with others. Not really any "terrible" tracks but more mediocre ones than amazing ones. I don't mind it though. Enjoyable enough listen. VERY generous 6/10.
This album will always mean a whole lot to me, and after this relisten, that hasn't changed. I think i like it more now. Sure, "Drunk and Hot Girls" is creepy and "Barry Bonds" is a snooze-fest, but they don't bug me as nearly as they used to. Don't know what to really say about the good tracks cause 80% of this album is kinda flawless. Also extra points for putting the two worst songs next to each other so the album can't get worse. This shit a vibe and a classic.
Some of this is hella outdated, especially with the track "See You in my Nightmares" and "Amazing". But goddamn some of his best tracks EVER are on this thing, such as "Street Lights", "RoboCop", and "Heartless". For the most part, this album stands the test of time, with the exception of a few duds. 7.5/10
Other than "Murder To Excellence", I'm kind of in love with this production, Beyonce and Frank Ocean do great, even if I don't really fuck with "Made In America". Both Kanye and Jay drop some pretty great verses, and even if some of the production feels outdated, the grandiose feel to this album is so charming to me that I don't think I could ever give this a bad score. It's actually pretty great.
at its best its hype as hell, with some of Kanyes best lyricism. at its worst, it's streaks of mid-underwhelming tracks, with overbearing and unnecessary production choices, and Kanye talking about how great he is. he isn't.
this album is a 6.5. its not terrible. I'm actually pretty surprised. HOWEVER, Kanye's microphone quality is noticeably shittier than any other Kanye album. Most of the trap drum heavy songs sound like demos for Donda, but for what it is, it's a decent collection of Gospel music.
Relistened:
65-> 30
Dude this sucks. I was way too nice on this thing. Everything here is underdeveloped, and I mean EVERYTHING. The beats, the verses, the microphone quality (still), I was wrong about this one.
not very similar to TGP2 but it ain't bad either.
