Because of the lack of lyrical and musical creativity, most of what is released in this subgenre of Hip Hop is lightweight and forgettable at best. Savage Mode II is an exception. This album is well put together, there's variation and some kind of a unique vibe to Metro Boomin's beats and the lyrics are not (all) cringe-worthy. 21 Savage does not need to use autotune to be able to get by, also a good sign. Not my genre this, but after a couple of listens, I can say more will follow. And having Morgan Freeman as a narrator: wow.
