This album is a difficult one to evaluate, because on an individual song level I think every track on this record is better than the best track on negative spaces.
On the other hand, for whatever reason, as an album experience this isn't great. I've yet to get through it as an album. Weird!
Some great songs but as a kinda longterm Bilmuri fan, him finding a sound is bittersweet. I'll miss the experimental aspects of previous records. This album is very much just following up the last one. At points it works, at points I'm growing bored of the gimmick.
This feels like it has more energy than the last record. It's all the same sounds as the last two in a focused, more resonate package.
I don't know how this band can drop one of their worst albums and then immediately drop one of their best. Consistently. It's happened three times.
The singles paint a picture of this album that unfortunately the record itself doesn't quite match, of this frenetic "let's be cringe and don't give a fuck" energy that I can really vibe with right now, but it hits that note enough, and otherwise hits as just good ATL enough that I quite like it.
