Happier Than Ever

So I’m one of the few people willing to defend her debut album, there’s far too many catchy and uniquely performed and produced songs on that record for me to ignore. So much so, that when the teasers toward this album were some of her safest sounding material to date, I was worried that she’d lost her touch. And uhh, yeah that appears to be the case here. I just get so little out of a bulk of these songs, they’re so middling from a production and instrumental perspective, that even Billie’s introspective and heartfelt lyricism can’t salvage it. A sophomore slump if there ever was one.
