This is Jason's lo-fi record. Now, as a massive fan of Car Seat Headrest, Alex G, Duster, and other lo-fi essentials, I thought I would find this to be underrated. Hell, the first track is pretty good. It's just Jason as a guitar, but the production gives this a feeling that none of his other songs so far have. Plus he gives one of his best vocals performances on this track.

However, the album is essentially that song for 9 more tracks. It's a good track, but not good enough to warrant nearly ... read more

I didn't expect to be in the 90s this early either.

Impala is essentially the debut done better in every way possible. The production feels incredibly intimate and soothing, the drums that were only occasionally present on the debut feel utilized to their full extent on tracks like An Ace Unable to Change and This Time Anything Finite at All. The addition of an organ on some tracks makes them feel more complete as a whole, too. Jason is more emotive on the project as a whole, and each one of ... read more

It's amazing that right out of the gate, Jason Molina already felt defined. I've only just started listening to him, but Jason has one of the best voices I've ever heard in folk. He's perfectly balanced between his soft timbre and his crushing emotive strength. His vocals and lyrics are obviously the highlights here, but his guitar playing is also incredibly gentle and addictive. Yes, this thing is incredibly barebones, only a few songs have anything more than Jason and a guitar. This is still ... read more

good question, I don't think there's anything very funny about they? if you are talking about the "tristan theory" thing, I guess it was just a joke. Like, I hope it was at least. I admit it got annoying, and now it's annoying. I feel that many truths also came out in the middle of the joke (elitism and arrogance) on the part of the community, and this may suits a "quality meter". However, I'd say to not mind it, and if you do, you can still block whoever is bothering you. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I'm done and I'm going to point out a few things

• I really liked the vocal sublimity and the lyrical composition, I found it very regretful and soothing
• I didn't really like how the instrumental moves along during the album, considering that the beginning is amazing but there are still some very beautiful moments at the end
• Overall it's an album that I find myself listening to more times, I was really impressed and surprisedand I found it very unique!!

I'm halfway through and it's something very different from what I hear, I'm really enjoying this slowness and sublimity

I started listening, I'm finding the production very weird in a good way
