I think there are some stunning moments here, but some others that perhaps don't contribute all too much to the overall experience
A really decent debut album from Balu Brigada! It sounds quite Strokes-y at times, muddled up with some Franz Ferdinand, Foster the People, and others, but generally some really strong highlights here! Marked down a bit though as it feels a bit long-winded and unrefined as a full listen through. Promising though!
Pretty enchanting, but it feels like it's lacking something to make it really special
Checked this out as Porter Robinson referred to it as one of his favourite releases of the year to that point. I'm not familiar with their music, but this is a nice interesting blend of rock and 8-bit music, but ultimately it felt a bit long-winded and messy for me personally. An interesting listen but not really my favourite
A really pleasant album that unfortunately struggles to really get off the ground!
Maruja's most direct track from this run of releases - it maintains their oppressive sound but does so in a way that breaks the concerns I had of a monotonous sound plaguing this band as they developed! They've shown that they can add variety and new ideas to their music whilst maintaining their identity - and this makes me very excited for their upcoming album release! An AOTY contender is coming!
An impressive album - not really my type of sound though. I appreciate how strong it is, but it just isn't for me!
A good listen! Definitely some stronger moments than others, but generally pretty good
Ok, I think I'm buying into the hype! South Arcade have been all over my Tiktok recently, and their music intrigued me enough to search out more. This EP whilst not perfect, was still a very fun, high energy release with a cool unique twist in their sound. I'll be looking out for more from them in the future too!
A really strong album let down by some occasional questionable decisions. Enjoyable and the strong points are brilliant, but I'm left scratching my head at other times throughout this album
Really solid! Will definitely be on the lookout for more from Adéla in the future!
Yeah, it's alright! Nothing too special and it felt like it dragged a bit though
Earls music has never really resonated with me all that much, but this is a pretty strong release that really grows into itself
Royel Otis' most consistent work to date, it's not all that groundbreaking but a few real highlights make this a really pleasant listen! :)
I really wanted to love this, but it unfortunately fails in several areas that really let it down. The sound, whilst brilliant at times, feels chaotic, unorganised, and messy, with the end result feeling disjointed and overstimulating. As mentioned, some moments are great, but as an overall listen it doesn't work me.
An album that absolutely warrants multiple listens to truly appreciate it - this is a real treat of an album
