The highs here are really spectacular, but it just feels like more tracks here are annoying in their sound than on previous albums - they have a weird Broadway feel to them and at times are quite corny. When it's at its best, this is one of the strongest albums of the year - unfortunately for me it isn't at its best for long enough!
Starts off quite captivating, but turns stale after a few tracks with little development throughout. A unique sound, but I want to see it developed further
Am eclectic, varied mix of sounds with mixed but mostly positive results! Enjoyable for sure!
Starts off a bit dodgy, but really grows into itself as an album and finishes pretty strong!
Parannoul is so stupidly talented it just isn't fair anymore. Another banger.
Decent - didn't enjoy it all though, it just feels a too unrefined and messy in areas, and the vocals aren't really for me at all
A completely different sound from the Parcels normally, but that doesn't make it any less impressive - great songwriting and a captivating sound makes it a very enjoyable single!
Immediately after finishing the album, the only track I remember is Abracadabra, the rest just faded away as pretty generic Gaga music - nothing all that memorable if at least solid and enjoyable. One thing I enjoyed in this album is that so many of the tracks sound reminiscent of her biggest hits, just enough of a similarity to make you recognise it but nothing too in your face or obvious. The vocal performance is generally excellent too throughout!
The problem for me though is that outside ... read more
Is it all that unique or new? Not really. Is it an enjoyable alt-pop record? Yes!
This album sees SOFY develop her sound from her previous EP which I enjoyed but didn't love, and sees her taking some (small) steps forward in her career. The sound remains mostly the same, but the consistency throughout the album is solid and it seems like she's nailed down her own sound more than she had before. It won't blow you away, but its a really decent short album!
Revisiting underscores after seeing them support Porter Robinson - what a fun album this is. For me it's certainly better on the back end from Spoiled Little Brat onwards, but the whole album is really energetic, varied, and captivating. A really enjoyable listen!
You'll all think I'm insane (and I may well be), but I actually quite enjoy his silly autotune antics! More importantly though, this is a step back towards the Voidz sound that I enjoyed so much on Virtue - a sound that has been missing for so long now. It's not a great single, but a step in the right direction is at least somewhat promising.
