I miss the Citrona era flipturn :(
This is an entirely ok release - it's safe, pretty generic, and not all that impressive but is at least pretty consistent throughout. It just lacks the charm and personality that I want from this band.
Felt pretty simple and a bit basic for me - didn't captivate me and left a bit flat
The strangeness of this album may also be it's biggest strength - an amalgamation of different sounds presented wonderfully by Booker
The rough vocals are incredible, they scratch an itch I never knew I had! Whilst Mushrooms in an older track (and an incredible one at that) the newer tracks are certainly more upbeat and energetic, and showcase a new side to the band. Overall, really enjoyable!
As mentioned by others, this is good but that's about it - it isn't great or spectacular by any means, just pretty decent. I couldn't find all that much to set it apart from other similar examples in all honesty, and it all felt a bit bland. Definitely underwhelming given the prominence of the band, but not a bad album by any means!
Pretty sweet, but not much sets it apart from all the other singer songwriter releases
Incredibly well produced and some stunning moments, but an album that whilst really enjoyable still left me wanting something more. I can't pinpoint what, but it feels like one tiny element is missing that prevents this from being incredible for me - regardless still a really really solid album! I enjoyed it!
A really good album! A bit of a hidden gem with a seriously consistent quality throughout - it isn't perfect but it's really enjoyable!
It grew on me quite a lot on second listen - I get hints of The Drums mixed with several other influences, resulting in an overall enjoyable listen!
It's really comparable to Friendly Fires in terms of sound - upbeat electronic feel-good fun that's full of energy! Some of the tracks here are really enjoyable and the weaker ones are still pretty decent! A fun listen overall!
I really enjoyed the front half of this, but did find it fade off quite quickly from the middle section onwards. Some great ideas and sounds to be found here though
