What a bop! Had no idea what I was getting into with this but I loved so much of the listening experience! It's catchy, fun, and quirky whilst not overextending itself either! A great listen!
God damn that was a fun listen! I was not expecting any of what I heard when I went into this, in fact I was completely blind as to what the album would entail! I absolutely loved the drops and heavy EDM in the first tracks, and whilst the album does drop a little bit in the middle section it brings it back brilliantly with the final few tracks! This is an incredibly fun listen and a sneaky contender to raise even higher with more listens!
Some really energetic, fun chiptune music! I enjoyed the whole project! :)
No idea what I just listened to as it was all just a whirlwind of chaos, but it was fun, intense, and wild!
It starts off really quite decent - the sound is nostalgic to the EotS sound we are all familiar with but slowly fades into a newer, different sound after a couple of tracks. These newer sounding tracks aren't all awful - in fact I think a fair few of them have been rated quite harshly here - but there's no getting away from the fact that they are nowhere near what we would have both expected and hoped for from this album. At times they sound quite annoying, and are often let down ... read more
PORTER I NEED MORE (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Smile XD is a beautiful introspective album about the pains of fame and celebrity status, but explored in the wonderfully charming style that Porter has created over the past year or so. It's goofy, quirky, and fun despite the pessimistic themes - and the final run of tracks is beautiful. Thank you porter!
It's as good as you'd expect a collab between these two to be
Whilst it's a bit of a ball ache to access, the resulting album is some of Jack White's best work since the White Stripes. It's dirty, loud, and packed full of raw charm. Loved it.
Remarkably consistent, but just drags on a bit too long for my liking. The first track was stellar and whilst the rest of the album was solid, I found nothing really came close to hitting the highs set by that opening track.
I found this really enjoyable, the vibe throughout was solid and there were a good few moments that really captivated me! My main gripe is that it feels like a bit of a mishmash of two separate albums that perhaps could have been either separated into two different releases, or sequenced a bit better throughout this one long album. Otherwise though, this was a fun listen! :)
I mostly enjoyed this to be fair - granted it didn't exactly blow me away at any point but I found it to be relatively consistent and pretty decent throughout. Some of the features definitely do drag it down a bit but overall the result is an enjoyable Denzel album. :)
A pretty wild collection of tracks with a vivid variety of genres, but ultimately outside of a couple of tracks it all felt slightly underwhelming. Nothing really grabbed me all too much and led to the album feeling a bit bloated - however it was still a pretty fun listen given the vast array of sounds on display
Probably the simplest of the singles so far, but it's still packed with charm and that unique Porter sound that is so easy to love. I imagine this will grow more and more as I listen to it again, and I'm excited to see how it works within the full album.
Was not expecting this switch up, but then again I should absolutely have seen him mixing things up like this
God she's good at what she does, another great track leading up to what may be a real sleeper pick of an album this year. I'm looking forward to it!
It's pretty much exactly what I'd want from a Nilüfer Yanya song, simple yet brilliant. The heavy guitars in the chorus could have been fine tuned a little more for my own liking is all!
When I say that this sounds like a record by a really good amateur band I mean that in the best way possible - Himalayas strike me as a group who are too good to be performing at their local venues, but not quite ready to take the next step up either. This record is remarkably solid and consistent throughout, but as mentioned by others it lacks much uniqueness or any particular standout elements to really set it apart at the next level from it's competition. It's a good listen, but ... read more
Whilst unfamiliar with toe, I had pretty high hopes going into this given some of the reviews I'd seen on this album - and in the end I found myself slowly falling in love with this release. The ambience of the album completely absorbed me and there were so many standout moments that utterly captivated me. There are a couple moments where I'd like a bit more or left me slightly unsure, but ultimately this was a really enjoyable listen for me
Production is pretty solid, but it didn't really blow me away at all and for the most part ends up being pretty forgettable. Some solid tracks scattered throughout though
It sounds pretty incredible, but as others have mentioned it feels like it's missing something - I'm not sure what that might be but it definitely leaves the album feeling lacking
