Parcels' drummer takes on a club atmosphere with this EP which will feel very reminiscent to fans of Parcels as there is a clear connection to Live Vol.2 - the disco club beats are driven, fun, and energetic but lack the punch and memorability that I would like to see from a release like this. A solid side project for Anatole!
Engrossingly well built and a truly captivating listen - its a release that will certainly please fans of the previous album. The third track is absolutely stunning, although I feel the closing 'track' is unnecessary.
A surprising return to relatively decent form for Hobo Johnson here, and a welcome one after the catastrophic past few releases in 2020-21. It's still not quite back up to the levels I enjoyed in his first two releases despite how emotional the tracks are here, but it's a promising showing!
Feels a bit hollow - it has the Blossoms sound but lacks any real punch.
I think I prefer this to her usual sound - @pearathon nails it with the softscars link in all fairness!
Expected the worst, but it's just a pretty generic album filler track. Nothing special, but considerably better than the title would suggest
A pretty beautiful yet fun little album! Some cool concepts are explored and I'm a fan of the style of music they settle on here. A good listen!
A solid release, at times a bit underwhelming but generally decent throughout. A good addition to today's list of releases!
It's like a masterclass in how to sound washed and showcase that your career is coming to an end. 'Nonetheless' seems to aim to recreate the iconic West End Girls sound but ultimately ends up sounding like a mediocre tribute act more than a new album. The 'posh rap' just sounds abysmal - amateurishly written and cringely performed - and the lyrics in general just don't work at all throughout the album. Some of the hooks and melodies do have a decent sound to them and can be catchy at times, but ... read more
Starts off strong but fades off towards the end - a story that replicates itself both across the whole album and within each individual track. It's a solid return to form, but there's still some room for improvement!
A pretty dark and wondrous album that creates some stunning scenes with each individual track to form a mesmerising overall album. There are a few moments which didn't quite click with me on first listen ( the first half of the final track for example) but generally everything here landed really well. Another really solid release from St Vincent as she cements herself as one the of most exciting artists around right now.
Britain's most exciting band delivers yet again with another banger of an EP.
I've kept an eye on Maruja since they released Tao years back, but only fully paid attention following the release of Knocknarea, one of THE best EPs released in the past few years. Maruja's bassy, sax driven sound is so packed full of energy that it's basically impossible to ignore, and combined with some SERIOUS talent, great vocals, and solid writing, it means they absolutely smash out bangers.

Not quite as catchy as Cheerleader, but still a banger with the classic Porter Robinson charm. Makes the album look seriously promising when it drops later this year 🔥
It's pretty sweet, but ends up being pretty forgettable by the time you hear out the whole album. The vocals are really nice and there's a vibe that Any Other creates throughout which is really pleasant, but unfortunately it lacks that wow factor that an album really needs to stick around. A decent enough listen nonetheless though!
Nothing special to be fully honest. The rap, whilst completely out of place, does at least mix things up a bit. Otherwise, it just sounds like a really generic Black Keys release.
