Absolutely perfect modern shoegaze. The vocals are both rough and hazy, the synths ghost-like and guitars jagged, Casino Hearts meet perfectly at the intersection between shoegaze and noise pop with A Walk In The Grass, and in doing so make maybe my favourite EP to release this year (at least, so far). With an extremely limited catalogue despite making music for so long, I can only hope the yearly release schedule for EPs sticks around, as I for one cannot wait to hear more from these ... read more
With waifish vocals, grating guitar, and the occasional xylophone chime that sound almost childishly out of place in comparison to the rest of their instrumentation, Deadharrie crafts an album that feels lullful, yet intentionally so. This is the first time I have delved into Deadharrie's discography, and while this album didn't stun me particularly, it was still a wholly enjoyable experience, and I have a feeling I might like their underproduced tunes a little more. (This being said, ... read more
saw blh the other night front row and practically screamed when eric pulled the banjo out and anais pointed directly at me and said she was happy to see a banjo enthusiast. not clickbait!
Aaron is one of the most singlehandedly devastating covers I've heard in a long time (and I'm a Samia fan). This whole project is so important, I 100% suggest everyone give whatever tracks pique their interest a listen.
I've been anticipating this album pretty highly, ever since bigger (still one of my favourite songs on this album) released last year, and while it didn't disappoint, it didn't really surpass anything Murray has done before. This being said, that doesn't dull my enjoyment of this whatsoever. Songs like Sleeper and City Glitter really leaned into a more folk feel, grabbing my attention more than any of the more pop or shoegaze sounding tracks. Overall, a perfectly Fazerdaze ... read more
With one of the most phenomenal voices I've ever heard, Sarah Blasko releases her first album in six years, chronicling the aftermath of loss and new life. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform a handful of songs from this album live at an in-store, and hear in her own words what this album meant to her. Just so incredibly touching and intimate (the venue being smaller than anyone's living room), and a perfect performance that makes this album all the more stunning.

i think ava neal might be my favourite young artist of the decade. there's just something so charming about the homemade energy of this record that really hooks me :)
favourite tracks: translucent, better news, lull
least favourite tracks: delicate
She's such a lovely person live, and this album is full of such potent raw emotion. Zietsch's powerful vocals definitely carry, and I'm not saying that she should make an album without instrumentals, but out of anyone, she could totally pull it off
Favourite Track: Do You
Least Favourite: FOMO
super fun jangly album. also i promise it's a coincidence that my favourite songs are the ones the beths did backing vocals on you can trust me alright

not bad but not memorable. the songs blended into one another and were sort of indistinguishable. nice in the background
