Would be a 100 if Daffy Duck didn’t constantly ruin itself with one of the worst guitar lines I have ever heard, and it’s also such a pretty song aside from that. Wtf
Pretty good Fishmans album. Not much blew me away like how their other material has, but goddamn the first actual song is so good. “Melody” is also a definite standout. It’s a vibe, but not the experience I was expecting by the other stuff I’ve heard by them, but their are still at least two more album by them I gotta hear so hopefully they’ll be what I want. This is still good though
I’ve done some thinking, and I don’t feel comfortable giving this a rating. It’s just not something I think can be given a number or a placement on a list, and etc. Like I just feel like doing that would be an injustice to both it, and other albums, cause it’s just not fair and doesn’t sit well with me. So that’s why this doesn’t have a rating anymore and wouldn’t be on any list of mine except for that vinyl one.
Definitely not as good as the previous single, but still hype Swans shit. This sounds a lot like it could fit in on “The Great Annihilator” though.
I see so many people give this high scores, but nobody like talks about it. I also need more people to listen to this. It’s fucking amazing and is a brilliant gateway into the greatest genre known to man, post-rock. But seriously how are songs like “Look a Ghost” and “October All Over” not classics.
Really fucking good post hardcore album. Blew my expectations out of the water. Might have to check out more of the group’s discography based on how good this was. The vocals blended way better here than on “Leaves Turn Inside You”, and overall more emotion can be felt on this album compared to that one. Spectacular.
Not going to lie, this is a damn fun album. These guys are just goofing around, and you can tell they’re having fun. Does it lead to as intimate or personal listen as “Spiderland”? Hell no, but I respect for it being just guys having fun making music, which is somewhat of a rarity nowadays.
Great debut with some of the groups best and most iconic songs on it. In terms of a debut you can’t get much better than this, and for an opening song on a debut I think there is absolutely no beating “Beware” in terms of its atmosphere and presentation. Definitely hear this if you haven’t best starting place for Death Grips.
This album shows a return to form for Death Grips for me. While I still love TPTB and The Bottomless Pit, it only felt like we were getting a fraction of what the group could really present, and what the presented on Exmilitary, The Money Store, and parts of NLDW. This album has that sound, but an evolved one, and also kind of serves as a statement of what the band thinks of their image. This shit also goes insanely hard, with that unnatural experimental sound, mixed with Ride’s most ... read more
Not as good as the album before it, but this album still has its own identity, and has some classic bangers on it. The most obvious example is “No Love” but I feel “Come up and get me” sets more of a standard for this albums techno infused anti-rhythm style. Sometimes that style can be taken to far though, like on “Deep Web” but all in all, it’s a great listen and addition to the Death Grips discography.
I like the instrumentals for the most part, but some of the vocals and instrumentals too for that matter are just not my thing at all. By the end of the album I just don’t give a shit anymore. Some of the longer songs that start off rough do go on some epic instrumental journeys, like “Closer” for example, but their beginnings are just not it. It’s not bad just not really my thing
My brain when listing to this: “What the fuck….wait is that a Brain Eno sample?!??!!?”
