Pinned Review

Tame Impala - Lonerism
This review turned out to be a lot longer than I anticipated, but screw it, this is my only 100 I've ever given (edit: not anymore).

This album is not perfect, and its imperfections make it the most special and unique listening experience that one could have.

I will admit - it took me a while to adjust to this album. Together with seemingly accessible melody passages stands strange production soaked in flangers, delay and reverb - all the things Kevin Parker loves the most. Currents was the ... read more

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Okay, so OF COURSE I'm gonna be comparing this album to Portishead's "Dummy". Is there any other way of reviewing it?
So, if you know me (but you don't), you'll know that I'm a big fan of "Dummy". I think it's a masterpiece, way ahead of its time, some other types of praise, etc etc. So, how does Mezzanine compare? Uh, not too badly, I guess.
The experimentation here, especially instrumentals-wise, is pretty amazing, and definitely ahead of its time. However, I'm not ... read more
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Ok, I've always kind of avoided emo music so I know virtually nothing about it, but if I know anything about this album, it's that despite being corny or overblown at points, it's ridiculously fun and consistent.
Holy shit, where do I even begin? This is amazing. I think it's commandable that on this album MCR pretty much find a perfect balance between chaotic pop punk and an odd... comforting feeling of sorts? Like, besides the fact that every song here is a total headbanger and goes hard as ... read more
Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
This Is how you make an album! Simz fucking gets it. Those interludes, the intro, the little detours, this is how you make an album exciting. SIMBI is an adventure of a listen, and a very entertaining one at that.
The lyricism here is absolutely on point. Every song tells a story and sticks to a certain theme, while at the same time taking on relevant and relatable topics. The whole album revolves around the theme of being an introvert, not feeling like you belong where you are, thinking about ... read more
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
I'm impressed, but not blown away.
"The Queen Is Dead", despite having pretty similar instrumentation and arrangements all across the board, feels kind of all over the place. The songs here constantly switch from serious, sometimes heart-wrenching pieces, like "I Know It's Over" or "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out", to flamboyant, ironic tracks like "Frankly Mr. Shankly". It seems like the messiness and lack of focus is part of the appeal for some ... read more
Stormzy - This Is What I Mean
There's definitely some highlights on here, but the fact that "This Is What I Mean" and "My Presidents Are Black" were by far my favourite tracks here just solidifies me in my statement that Stormzy is better when he's straight-forward and just spitting bars on beats that go hard as fuck.

ur underrated as hell!!! i always seek your reviews on albums i look at on this site all the time.
