Modern punk music has been really inconsistent, especially by genre. I love modern post-hardcore and post punk, but I can’t say that I like modern pop punk (with a few exceptions).
This is my introduction to IDLES, and of course I’m impressed with it. This album is basically an emotional sucker punch, with some songs making you want to beat the shit out of someone, and some songs making you want to give someone a big hug.
There’s one big issue that I’m having, and it’s that it was difficult to be engaged with the album. But I bet the problem will be fixed if I ever decide to re-listen to the album.
