Maybe I’m doing this album a little more justice than it deserves, especially since I don’t like a lot of pop punk these days…but I just keep coming back to it!
The modern wave of pop punk has been horrendous. Blink-182 made their worst album in 2019, MGK made two of the worst albums I have ever listened to, Waterparks are mid (sorry Legoshi)…and I don’t wanna keep going about the bad things.
There have been a select few exceptions that have made decent pop punk. Olivia Rodrigo made two decent pop punk songs that just seemed to blow up. Willow Smith made a great album last year. Halsey made the best pop punk song of 2021.
But this album right here is the crown jewel of them all. This, by far, the best modern pop punk album, and maybe even in the history of pop punk. The lyrics don’t make me cringe, and the whole album is so fun you’d think a waterslide that launches you into a pool of water wouldn’t come close to how fun this thing is.
Oh yeah, this thing is so catchy!
