Hey, just wanted to recommend you to listen to some of Yanka Dyagileva's stuff. I just think you may enjoy it.

Have you ever watched the movie ‘Melancholia’ (2011)-and if you did, how was it-?
Sep 10, 2020
I don’t see the appeal of Iannis Xenakis. Why do you love his work so much??
Sep 10, 2020
Thank you that’s great. I really like Jai Paul and just heard black metal for the first time today so I can’t wait to listen to ‘World of Echo‘ :)

Again though, that perception might change once I watch the other films first. Ray definitely impressed me plenty to convince me to watch more of his material!

Yes, I saw some comments about that after I'd finished the film, sadly. It kind of seemed similar to when I watched 'Before Sunset' before watching 'Before Sunrise': the movie still worked and didn't necessarily feel like it missed something, but context might aid a better understanding. I absolutely loved the first hour or so of the film, but when the drama really kicks in (you know what I'm talking about), it seemed to lose some of its power to me, as the stakes seemed to be undercut in a way. It just came off a bit too abrupt, too sudden, with no real purpose other than to divert expectations. The film's messaging still impressed me, though, as I compared it to something like Milan Kundera's 'Unbearable Lightness of Being'. When he is visited by Pulu, that perceived messaging was replaced my something more predictable and less cerebral, which slightly disappointed me.

Thank you very much John, I hope you're doing well. I've been on this site for a while now and you're always the first one to encourage me, it's a real pleasure. As for Arthur Russel it's clearly my favorite release of this year so far, he's an artist I really liked a few years ago and if you hadn't sent me this rec, I probably would have missed it. So thanks. Also, a quick question, can you tell me how you manage to find so many great obscure albums ?

Hey, I’m wondering if you know of any great albums similar to Frank Ocean’s Endless. It’s great to see how much you loved that album so I thought you were the person to ask if u knew of any similarly ethereal and fluid albums like that one. Thanks!

On that note, I’ll be honest and say I’m not too bothered. I stepped in and tried to have a conversation about the post and it didn’t go anywhere, so I came in and I left my parting words. They obviously weren’t taken seriously, which was to be expected. The only other thing that seemed to be responsible at that point is to just unfollow the people associated with what I saw as a negative environment. I’m sure it may result in some perceived beef, but that’s not really my intention. I just think that people who make light of such a serious topic aren’t the content creators I want to see in my feed, and if they were to decide to also unfollow me it would probably make sense because I’m likely not posting the content they’re looking for anyways.

I can’t say I blame you for not interacting as much anymore. I’ve found its best to interact with the users you know you can have a pleasant conversation with rather than try and stay entrenched in it all. I do really appreciate that you see me in that light, I’ve always seen you as kind of the AOTY leader in a lot of respects given that many of the other top users tend to use their platform in different ways and you have always maintained a thoughtful demeanor. So know that you’re just as appreciated.

In 50% of EMR’s reviews there’s like this one person who’s very confused about his rating. He can talk about an album he’s given a 5 or a 6 so positively. It would sound like a 9 or a 10 if you didn’t notice or see the rating (which is sort of impossible; that’s the first thing you see going through someone’s reviews). Where if the same review was posted on say RYM, people would probably shrug at the review’s rating. That’s one of the reasons I quit RYM; everybody on the website is so critical. An incredible album would be a 3.9/5 on there. Everybody’s the same on there, the open mindedness is lacking there. They all give the same scores. It’s takes a while to find somebody who disagrees with the status quo.

How can you give one of the greatest sound-collage albums of all time an 84? Also I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on the new 6ix9ine.... if you actually are up to listening to that garbage.
Sep 3, 2020
Slightly surprised to see you haven't checked out any of The Drones' records yet (from what I've gathered). Easily one of my favourite bands of all time with just how pleasantly abrasive they're able to make punk blues. You seem to quite appreciate Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin's Tropical Fuck Storm project, so I reckon you oughta check it out if you find the time! I'd recommend starting with 'Wait Long By The River...'

I would love to see you attempt this list! I have been as truthful as possible in mine, so no judgement will come from me with any "cringey" choices.

Aug 30, 2020
Hey. I was just wondering, what are your favorite (100/100) TV shows and books (including graphic novels/comics)?
You have a very selective taste in cinema and music so I was very curious about that.
Sorry for the trouble.
Aug 29, 2020
hey? whats your fav album to ask list questions to for a list?
Aug 21, 2020
Let me tell you something
New York, is the greatest fucking city in the world
Aug 19, 2020

Aug 19, 2020
What do you think is the best version of Man with a Movie Camera...Err the best soundtrack for that film?
Aug 19, 2020
What's the scariest album you've ever heard?
Aug 18, 2020
I've listened to Chega de Saudade and Songs of Ireland but the rest are completely new to me, thank you :)
Aug 17, 2020
Hiya, I'm looking for some obscure or otherwise underrated albums from the 50's, is there any you know of that you could recommend to me?
Aug 17, 2020
Also I’m thinking about deleting almost all of my reviews and sort of restarting with my account on here. I want to here thoughts on that.....
Aug 17, 2020
Beautiful songs?
Aug 17, 2020
Thanks a lot man!
Aug 17, 2020
Do you know a good starting place for getting into the more experimental side of cinema/film?
Aug 17, 2020
Decided to give it a go because of its length too, but got much more than I was expecting. Incredibly easy watch without straying away from the more difficult and touchy subject matter!
Aug 17, 2020
Thank you so much!!!
Aug 16, 2020
Yo, Inglumeyyy! I was wondering if you've ever seen 'Paris Is Burning' (1990)? Phenomenal documentary about the New York drag scene of the 80's that touches upon some very real (and sadly still very much alive) social topics in an incredibly empathic way. I can't help but feel you'd enjoy it!
Aug 15, 2020
Do you have any recommendations?
Aug 12, 2020
Sorry to bug you, but do you know any good Sound Collage albums?
Aug 9, 2020
Squid's amazinggg!

And yes, I did message you, but removed it as I had a sudden realisation of how much I've currently got lined up for listening purposes! Didn't want to risk asking you and then giving you the impression I wasn't taking them to heart hahaha. Many thanks, though! Will put 'em down here and see when I can get to them :)
Aug 9, 2020
Fair enough, thank you!
Aug 9, 2020
What do you think is the most underrated album of all time? This is for a list.
Aug 9, 2020
Don't worry! There's nothing in this world that I'm more excited about than their and Squid's debut records, so I'll be sure to let you know when more information is revealed. Squid recorded their album about a month ago, whereas BCNR have seemingly recorded it this past week. Main difference being that Squid have already confirmed being signed to Warp, while BCNR still need to reveal their attachment to Ninja Tune (according to rumours). My guess would be about november for Squid and about january/february for BCNR! :)

I was wondering if I may point your attention towards an orchestral 10-minute version of Black Country, New Road's 'Athen's, France'? You can find an easy link with YouTube timestamp on my RYM page ("currently listening to..."). I'd love to hear what you think - matter of getting you aboard the hype train for the best band of all time currently recording their debut record. Thank me later! 😃👍

You reviewing this would be a great business decision. I’m a 14 year old producer/rapper. And btw, the album is 4 minutes so, haha.
