Travis Scott - Rodeo

Rodeo is still what I believe to be Travis Scott’s most consistent and unique record.

In a trap landscape that breeds monotony, Travis Scott’s major label debut lends an original psychedelic take on hip hop’s most popular mainstream sub genre, and introduces the seminal moment of Travis’ young and promising career. Bolstered by excellent production and brilliant vocal performances with perfectly employed features. One of the modern music world’s first introductions to a world where Travis Scott transcends the usual "big booty bitches and drugs" approach to popular trap music.

Songs like Antidote and 3500 deliver a frenetic mosh pit energy, while tracks like 90210 and Pornography show us the flip side to Travis’ usually wild and concert-oriented bangers with a fresh approach to what can only be described as trap balladry.

A lasting impression and a work so far ahead of its time in its respective genre that many contemporaries are still taking bits and pieces from this record to employ in their own musical ventures, though not quite as successfully or uniquely as Travis Scott on Rodeo.
