EPs like this are why I hate the "riddim is live show thing rather than something you listen to at home" line of thinking.
I shouldn't have slept on this holy crap.
This is a shoe in for riddim project of the year for me and I don't know if anyone is going to touch this. Something I don't think Modal Nodes gets enough credit for is how seamlessly the Star wars theming integrates with everything. Genuinely a masterclass in theming, especially in a genre that doesn't concern itself much with aesthetics and theming beyond the cover art and what mask the dj wears.
Gotta say, this track impressed me considering the quality of Samplifire's recent output.
I'm not sure why this album hasn't gotten more attention, it's a pretty fun romp for how short it is. If nothing else, do your self the favor of listening to peace of mind.
There's a world where these two bring out the best in each other.
This is not that world...
I appreciate the idea, just wish it did a bit more than the quarter notes.
I like the melodic parts, with the bells and stuff. Sucks otherwise.
Thank god the Eminem track isn't on this EP.
I'm not against clipping or distortion (the Beastboi. track that came out today is a very good example of how it can be used to good effect). But man, having almost every track on this EP be this clipped while also taking a fairly similar approach to each track does not make for a fun listen.
Riddim can be such a fun genre of music, but man, do something more with it than this...
I hate everything about this except the bass in the second drop. So a measured improvement for Wooli IMO.
