the third installment of 'convocations' is vastly different than the first two, it feels much more intense and even bolder.
flush with colorful music, 'revelations' is full of drastic changes. at times it sounds like familiar territory for stevens, yet 'revelations' is unlike any other sufjan release in terms of ambient detail.
"revelations VI" and "revelations IX" are the two standouts from this disc.
while the album is instrumental, sufjan still uses choirs throughout “revelations six” to distort and alter the notes. additionally, “revelations six” has some of the best aesthetics out of all the visuals for 'revelations'.
“revelations nine” is the most noteable track. it has a trap type beat with low sounds that initiates the dark and forlorn setting. the track is the longest song on ‘revelations’ at over four and a half minutes. also, this disc is the longest runtime yet at thirty four minutes.
it seems as if with each individual release in the 'convocations' series, sufjan is improving. each result is arguably better than the previous; thus, i have high hopes for 'celebrations' and 'incantations'.
