Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

Is it officially old enough to call a classic?

At 10 years old, Merryweather Post Pavilion is no less the monument to summery, youthful exuberence that it was when it came out, as well as continuing to serve as inspiration for indie bands going forward.

The album doesn't miss a single beat. Every track is a mesmerizing sonic collage of warm, evocative, exciting sounds. A music festival, an amusement park, and the zoo are places the album feels like it could fittingly soundtrack.

This was an album I listened to throughout the very end of high school, which was perhaps the happiest time of my life (so far). But even as I listen to it quite a while removed from those days, the beauty of this albim resonates deeply with me.
