Just a great hip-hop record. Runs a tad long, but some absolute gems like Holy Ghost, Electric Body, and Excuse Me.
It’s a good album. If you like that like grunge take on post-hardcore, this is very inoffensive.
Magical first half, slows down a tad on the second half. Yes I’m Changing is one of the most hypnotic songs ever created.
I wish I could put into words the level of emotion and depression and… self-doubt that this album invokes and still be close to giving it justice. It’s angry, it’s bitter, it’s reaching for hope, even when the answer feels like a mountain; visible, but unattainable. When you start a record the way it does, those first sets of lyrics really tells you all you need to know.
This is one of those weird instances where, if My Chemical Romance never released another song again, I’d be completely stoked. This FEELS like a last contribution to a band, a message, a legacy. Something about the filthy use of static and crumbles, the drowned vocals of Gerard, the lyrics referring to the origin of the band and in a poetic manner, being a plot device of rebuilding and re-inventing. Just an album that doesn’t age particularly well, despite being filled with solid riffs and breakdowns. Danny still sounds really good on this album, despite being lyrically filled “We’re taking over” motifs that get old by the half way point. To The Stage is still an absolute highlight. Probably the strongest chorus on the entire record.
Really love Sleeping With Sirens attempt at implementing more than just the prototypical Post-Hardcore fundamentals, while making the heavier sections stand out. Also the album cover absolutely describes the vibe of the album. It’s not bright, it’s not dark, but it’s comforting and grounded.
I found myself complimenting the vocals and certain instrumental sections than the overall songs. When the strongest song immediately gave me 30 Seconds To Mars vibes, I don’t know what the says about being a stand out record.
Wow, what a fun ass record! There’s definitely a mix of post-hardcore and pop punk, this may sound like blasphemy, but I kept getting more pop punk focused early record-Rise Against vibes with this. It’s not overtly heavy, but there’s definitely that hardcore/post-hardcore influence. Also, the chorus/hooks were a lot more interesting and catchy that I figured they’d be, looking from the outside.
Overall, I don’t have any particular gripes with any song, though some ... read more
