Against Me! Is yet another example of a band I didn't appreciate nearly enough when I was younger and getting into harder music. Upon revisiting them, however, I'm finding myself endlessly enamored by every minute detail. I love Laura's passionate, angry, emotive vocals and the incredible introspective lyrical prowess almost effortlessly accompanying them (ex: all of 8 Hours of Sleep). The instrumentation is very raw and aggressive, while still allowing the acoustic guitar to shine through the mix. This album, to me (and I'm sure many others), is a classic of folk punk music and the larger punk rock genre as a whole, and while I'm not anticipating that any other Against Me! Records will be more enjoyable than this one, I'm excited to finally fully explore and digest their full body of work.
