I don't think I've ever been able to experience an album listen quite like this. A remix album is not unique, it has been done many times by many artists in different forms; however this isn't just a remix album.
'Brat and it's completely different but also still brat' is a fully realised reflection upon the phenomenon that was brat summer, even if it was simply a features album in the style of the "Guess" and "Girl, so confusing" remixes it ... read more
After seeing Kitty Ca$h at All Points East this weekend, I immediately had to listen to a project from her. For the first act of the day for me, her set got me good to put me in the best mood with the sun beaming, good vibes going and penjamin puffing. She looked a 10 too.
Handle With Care has been on repeat since, I can't get enough. Fire beats, stellar production and engaging features. I couldn't ask for more except a project with more than 5 actual tracks. In fact girl, drop that ... read more
After sitting with this album for some time and seeing her at the Hot Girl Summer Tour (life changing btw), it's safe to say MEGAN is quite the earworm as I keep finding myself coming back to this project.
Firstly all three singles came in HOT, starting with Cobra my personal favourite, which closes off the album perfectly. A personal conquest into the state of Megan's health, physically and mentally with a catchy hook and nasty guitar breakdown. HISS came in nastily, causing the ... read more

DOPAMINE, the long-awaited debut from Normani, has finally been put out into the world and defines Normani's signature style as a solo artist. The Normani we know and love is a powerhouse force in music, dancing and visuals which is why it saddens me to have witnessed the rollout for this project. But that doesn't mean we still can't appreciate the body of work she has graced us with (lord only knew if we ever would).
Mani laced this album with some ... read more
En Route is a short and sweet journey of groovy summer vibes fitting right in with the cover of the album, that's exactly where I'd be listening to this EP. Bernarr's playfulness is what stays captivating throughout this body of work in the structure, melodies, harmonies and enunciation. He is able to form so much personality and uniqueness that's so pleasurable to hear, you can feel the fun they're having while doing it, becoming infectious. With a plethora of groovy bass', jazzy horns and ... read more
Born In The Wild is the raw journey of finding your place in the world through self-assurance, compassion, faith in higher power and most importantly yourself. These themes situated within smooth r&b, afrobeat, neo-soul tracks complimented with the beautiful vocals of Tems.
The opening title track unexpectedly opens with the sole use of acoustic guitar, allowing for such rich rawness within her vocals that sets up the album for the story it means to tell. Beginning in such a vulnerable ... read more
TIMELESS was the correct title to give to this new body of work by KAYTRANADA as he is persistent on making dance/house/funk tracks which I'm sure will stand the test of time. No matter what KAY. is on he refuses to stay anything but fresh, an artist and producer of a generation I would say. He is a master at curating a guestlist of artists; Rochelle Jordan starts us off with her sultry, silky vocals that makes magic, Durand Bernarr whose playful adlibs and harmonies align perfectly with those ... read more
BRAT takes us through a journey of pure electro/dance/pop bangers for the clubs paired with the complex moments of vulnerability that create such captivatingly personal, heartfelt and emotional moments. This album touches on issues of self-esteem, grief, guilt and motherhood while simultaneously knowing that you're the girls favourite reference and that bitch. To be a brat is to be the version of yourself that's your most unapologetic, to know your worth but be mature enough to confront the ... read more
For my introduction to ScHoolboy Q I have to say I was beyond impressed by BLUE LIPS. From exploring the raw, darker themes of grief, upbringings, cultural criticism and drug misuse to the straight up flexing and mature sense of self-reflection; BLUE LIPS takes you on a ride through sonic landscaping. The stellar production follows dark, heavy trap beats while coinciding with the jazzy, groovy yet mellow sounds that are fused together seamlessly. The production and flow isn't afraid to switch ... read more
Laced in between the clunky tracks and cheap use of samples, Pink Friday 2 offers glimpses of the legend that Nicki is in the vibrant, playful and at times emotional records. It's just a shame that as a project we've come to a messy, even jarring tracklist. Opening with the sped-up Billie sample was the biggest jumpscare I've ever experienced that I cannot bare to listen to it, it's unfortunate because it's one of her most vulnerable, personal moments on the album. I wanted to root for Pink ... read more
Radical Optimism had a hard time being up against its modern-classic pop predecessor, Future Nostalgia, but I'm here to praise it for standing strongly on its own. Dua knows how to set the tone perfectly with an opener, setting up with its groovy psychedelic sound that is trickled through the album. At this point the she knows exactly who she is, following with her classic dance-pop that is so uniquely Dua but departs from the disco of FN. She is creating the sound of the summer while taking us ... read more
WE DON'T TRUST YOU shines in Metro's high quality, dark trap production and really is the star of this duo for me, when it hits it comes in hard however this album loses its credit in the congested tracklist with tracks that fall flat. While Future does a good job of carrying through, it's the features that are primarily the strongest. At points his verses become redundant riding along the beats and while Future matches the energy of the haunting production, it just doesn't necessarily take ... read more
JAGUAR II refuses to be anything but the sexy, sultry, sentimental r&b that I can't get enough of. With a fusion of funk, reggae, soul and contemporary r&b, the follow up album from the 2020 JAGUAR is undeniably gorgeous with vocals of silk and expensive feeling production. Victoria has always been a star and I'm glad the world is finally seeing her for who she is and when she performs this LIVE, it's over for all of you. And shoutout to my favourite song of 2023 "Alright", ... read more
Heaven Knows is PinkPantheress at her best yet, it's the polished, revered and superior older sibling to her debut "to hell with it" (and I love that album). The production of this project is sublime across the board and builds an immense atmosphere with its at times eccentric, playful and experimental sounds paired with the depths of Pink's darkest emotions that will keep you hooked. She has mastered the art detailing the most dismal emotions of love and heartbreak on a beat that I'm ... read more
