Karen O & Danger Mouse - Lux Prima

i feel like theres a lot of smooth and graceful art rock arrangements happening here. the production is very clean but its more warm than sterile. Karen O isnt her super energetic punk self in her performances but more soft and dreamy vocally, which is okay i guess. she still has a great voice and i enjoy Danger Mouses production style. she did show some more emotion in her performance on "Woman", which was a great reminder of how well she can sing and how unique her voice is. this album definitely needed more dynamics vocally from her like on that song, even if the song itself wasnt like phenomenal, her performance was on point and more interesting

my main issue with this project is there isnt really a lot of memorable things happening musically. its all very pleasant to listen too but nothing really grabs my attention in a way thats gripping. its just kind of like, thats nice. but theres nothing sticky on this, its like going into this album you come out feeling exactly the same, it doesnt really leave anything with you or make you feel any sort of way. its not exactly boring but its not super exciting. at least there arent any straight up bad songs, which counts for something i guess
