EXETER is Bladee's underappreciated masterpiece. Even among Bladee fans, EXETER remains sort of a black sheep, and of course his haters are going to have the same opinion on it as they do all of his other music. The exact same reasons I love this are why many people seem to hate it, though. Even though at nine tracks and 18 minutes it may seem small, this marked a tremendous turning point in the style and overall mood of Bladee's music.

Never before have I heard an album so abstract yet so emotionally charged. While Injury Reserve's self titled was a collection of very high quality experimental hip hop songs, this album is something I don't think anyone could have seen coming, and with Groggs passing before it was completed, By the Time I Get to Phoenix ends up being very heavy. The production is incredibly glitchy, to the point where the majority of these songs don't have a strong sense of tempo, making an especially ... read more

Considering it's not that badly rated compared to some of their other albums and I actually thought their debut was decent, I didn't expect this to be that bad. It's entertaining at least. Monday and Cutthhroat are some of the funniest songs I've heard all year. The vocals here sound awful, and I don't remember him always sounding this bad. Even on moments where there's potential like the chorus of Dull Knives, there's just these really scuffed vocal lines that ruin it. There's also just some ... read more

Donda is finally here after one of the weirdest album rollouts I've ever seen. Kanye had 3 listening parties leading up to this album, with the last one featuring DaBaby and Marilyn Manson, and having a sample of the fucking Globglogabgalab, which is still somehow on the album. Donda, although having flaws, is an often beautiful album with some of the best songs Kanye's ever made, and it's a mile ahead of Jesus is King. This album apparently wasn't given permission by Kanye to be released, ... read more

Hello, I hope you're having a good day. I am reaching out in regards to my next AOTY Icon Interview. If you're unfamiliar with the series I crowdsource for questions. This time around for January 2021 edition, I will be interviewing PipePanic. The question is, what is a music-related question you can ask Pipe. Please refrain from asking questions as simple as "What is your favorite album?" Please also refrain from asking for thoughts about a specific album or asking joke questions. I ask that you ask something thought-provoking and ambiguous. I will be selecting the best questions to ask Pipe. If you can't think of any questions, you have a week to think about it. I also recommend checking my shoutbox before asking the question just to verify it hasn't been asked already. All participants will be credited for their questions. The interview will be posted by the end of the month. Thank you!

The final song of an album is one of the most important things to it. To make you feel satisfied, an album closer has to look at everything an album has done and say, "Hey, how am I going to make a satisfying ending to this story?" Album closers are incredibly hard to execute and many don't feel how they should. It takes a lot of talent for an artist to wrap up their own piece of work effectively and make a listener feel satisfied.

Which leads me to my question: what is your favorite album closer/finale of all time and why?
