This is basically just ambience, not even necessarily ambient 'music' but its pretty interesting. The sound choice on the 20 minute title track is really intriguing but it also doesn't really vary throughout the whole runtime. "Thermo Vision" was definitely the most interesting though. There's the most variety in this one and it opens really strong. Yea I mean for the idea that it is, its executed pretty well but this definitely isn't for everybody. I mean, I wouldn't revisit it again ... read more
So, it's here. I had middle of the road expectations for this one. Cudi is my favourite artist but "PORSCHE TOPLESS", the first single, was a bad first impression. First track "OFTEN I HAVE THESE DREAMZ" was a very good start. "KEEP BOUNCIN'" and "GET OFF ME" with Travis were alright. There were certain parts I liked from them but not really blown away. They'll be growers. "WOW" with Rocky is definitely a banger. Rocky's verse wasn't excellent ... read more
"Up And Down" and "Third Coast" were actually pretty cool. I didn't like the album initially, I still don't like it, but these two songs I enjoyed and can appreciate more. That leaves "Outta Respect" which I think is pretty garbage. But yea this feels like a step up so I'm not mad really. That said these upgrades and Teezo's artistic portrayal still don't exactly pique an urge for me to revisit.
I'll be honest I do NOT understand German but he's definitely spitting some hard shit. The production is also super raw and great. As I see it this guy is the german Conway the Machine which is pretty dope. I think the language barrier was a bit off-putting at times, not because I can't understand German but because its just not a vocal type of sound that I'm used to. Regardless it was pretty fire. Favourites were "55 (Interlude)", "Geist", ... read more
Wow I love this. "Armchair", "Pick At Your Face", and "Whiplash" were absolutely AMAZING but to be honest there wasn't a part on this album that I didn't enjoy. Very very solid. I also love how the sequencing almost progresses into madness with a gradually harder sound. "Other" was probably the weakest track for me but still not even bad. Gosh. What a banger. I don't even care if people think I'm rating this too high this is everything I want in a hard ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 16**
Boner music literally
Really keeping it going with the momentum of Let It Bleed on this one. "Brown Sugar" and "Sway" start the album with a bang. They're both super powerful tracks that immediately get you in the mood. "Wild Horses" is the perfect acoustic Stones song that I've been looking for. The harmonies, the chord progression, and beautifully simple instrumentation make this one of their best songs to me. "Can't You Hear Me ... read more
Not the best ambient album I've ever heard but it was an enjoyable listen. "I Know My Place" was really well done. The soundscapes were absolutely beautiful on it. Same goes for "Limón". And I can see "Sleep Feeling" dragging for a lot of people because 17 minutes is a helluva long song, but it kinda works for me. "The Light" was also a phenomenal closer. I'm big on ambient music and a good chunk of this scratched that itch. While it didn't start ... read more
I keep finding albums I forgot to rate, but yea, this was honestly a treat. Even if the music isn't tip top masterpiece, Roger Waters has always done a good job of enthralling the listener. Is This The Life We Really Want? Combines Pink Floyd's signature sound with Roger's sociopolitical focuses. And despite controversies surrounding him, it doesn't contaminate the music at all and I can appreciate the introspection here. Favourites were "Déjà Vu", "Picture ... read more
"Off the Muscle" was alright, the rest was painfully uninteresting with pretty much 0 appeal.
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 15**
At first I was feeling similarly to my listen of "Beggars Banquet", which I took to be decent, but overrated. Let It Bleed is different however and really turns up the heat.
Common for the Stones, the opener, "Gimme Shelter" is a powerhouse. They really know how to make a first impression on an album. "Love In Vain" and "Country Honk" have a charm to them, and are decent, but in my opinion are the weakest points of the album. ... read more
Forgot to rate this one when making my account I guess, yea in retrospect its really mid as a whole, has some great songs tho like "SAD!", "Hope", and of course, "infinity (888)", maybe his best song or at least in the top 3.
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 14**
As far as I know, this is what many people consider to be the start of the peak of this group. I was a big fan of the first 3 songs, particularly "Sympathy For The Devil", which is without a doubt one of their greatest songs. It's energetic and damn it just keeps going without getting dry for a second. Banger. After "Dear Doctor" though, my interested wasn't exactly piqued. I mean it wasn't bad, although I didn't like "Prodigal Son" but ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 13**
Edit: (94 --> 90) alright it's still amazing but upon revisiting every track it doesn't blow Sticky Fingers out of the park and at best rivals it. Still a top tier Stones album fasho.
This album cover screams Magical Mystery Tour and I love it. But anyways we are FINALLY FREE FROM THE SHACKLES OF THE 60S US AND UK COUNTERPART ALBUMS. This means I can finally FINALLY just listen to one single album without having to piece out the differences in the ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 11**
Edit: Changed to just Pt. 11 as I added the US version to the website.
I'm glad to see they're keeping their focus after Aftermath, and have crafted another album that feels like an album. Sonically, they aren't pushing insane boundaries here, but they've been fine tuning and refining their sound for years to the point where they're becoming more notable for their projects themselves as opposed to certain great songs from albums that feel ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 10**
The US version of Aftermath is good, not better than the UK version but still alright. It loses some of the biggest highlights of its counterpart but it DOES have goddamn "Paint It Black". Jesus christ this song is amazing. I can easily put it up there with "Satisfaction" as one of the best songs I've heard from them thus far. Closing with "Goin' Home" isn't a great look though.
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 9**
The UK version of Aftermath really feels whole. It's cohesive, fleshed out, and clearly more focused than previous records. To start, "Mother's Little Helper" was a fine, charming track. Solid opener. The next couple tracks carry the same charm but aren't exactly as well in quality, but it's with "Under My Thumb" that heightens the experience. And then theres "Going Home". Boy this track drags like hell. I'm all for long, 10+ minute ... read more
Edit: 90 --> 100, "Hold" falls back into the top of my grouper obsession and the song has never sounded better. "Sick" has always been just as phenomenal too with its darker tone. The former almost feels like an eerie calm before the storm that is the beautifully miserable latter. These two songs are genuinely some of Liz's best and land on a really nice plane between the A I A era and her stuff from Cover the Windows and Wide.
Grouper is one of my favourite artists ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 8**
This is a US release, also sharing some tracks from the UK release of Out of Our Heads, and other than "I'm Free", the ones it takes from that album were definitely not my favourites, so it really doesn't give it much of a boost if at all. There are 7 tracks new to me as of listening to this album. The first, "You Better Move On" is quite good actually and I enjoyed it more than any of the tracks pulled from OoOH. "As Tears Go By" and ... read more
**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 7**
Edit: Changed to just Pt. 7 since I added the UK version and posted my review (which was originally tagged onto this one) there.
So uh, there's two versions of this album, a UK and a US version. However, there are NOT both versions on this website. Goddamn it. So, I'm gonna write reviews for both albums in this one review. And for the sake of if you read this review, I listened to the UK version first. The info for this album also doesn't make sense. ... read more
