The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones, Now!

**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 5**

This is an even weirder one to rate. It's a US release that includes tracks from both The Rolling Stones No. 2 and the UK version of Out of Our Heads, so technically its a parallel (but not really) of TWO UK releases. Boy we're really getting knee deep in this back end discography stuff and its hella annoying. Regardless, the actual album. So a lot of the tracks pulled from No. 2 were ones that I enjoyed with a couple exceptions. The ones new to me on this one were ... read more

**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 4**

I believe this is supposed to be the US parallel of "The Rolling Stones No. 2" which again is annoying since this one is so vastly different I can almost rate it as its own album. It incorporates songs from the "Five by Five" EP, a single version of "Time Is on My Side", and a couple other different tracks (I think).

While the whole iffy US and UK release thing is off putting, the quality is what's to judge. "Around and ... read more

**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 3**

Uhhh yea it's like the same album as their debut except this one has "Not Fade Away" and the UK version has "Mona (I Need You Baby)". People seem to be large fans of "Not Fade Away" and honestly I don't care for it that much. I don't particularly like either tracks so it doesn't change my rating.

**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 2**

The UK and US versions of each albums are really throwing me off and frankly I don't know which to listen to for which album, so I'm just gonna listen to the UK albums in full and the US exclusive tracks on their respective albums, then rate accordingly. This is pretty annoying because I'm very much a fan of listening to the "definitive" chronological discography of an act but whatever. Anyways onto the actual album.

So I don't really know what it is about ... read more

**Stones Deep Dive Pt. 1**

Starting my Stones deep dive. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and finally found the motivation to get started. I wasn't expecting much from their debut. Similar to The Beatles with "Please Please Me", their first album is pretty linear in its sound. Except, I absolutely love Please Please Me and was kinda indifferent to a lot of the material here, but that probably comes with mounds of bias. I don't really have much to say about this album. Saba - CARE FOR ME
65

Am I missing something? It's refined, inspired, but it still feels flat often. The sound is alright, but I really didn't get as much out of this album as I anticipated.

Bishu - BXU 2
80

As a now long time fan of Bishu and a proud member of his legendary community, this is one of the coolest drops this year. The peak of the unique talent in this community is unlike any other and the product is a collection of various styles, most of which are very engaging, hard hitting, and damn fun to listen to. Can't wait for his debut album.

The Beach Boys - M.I.U. Album

Jesus. Honestly, I thought this album started great. "She's Got Rhythm" and "Come Go With Me" were pretty promising opening tracks, but BOY does this take a nose dive. Almost the entire rest of the track list is bad. The most passionless Beach Boys music I've heard so far, and I feel like it might not go uphill. "Sweet Sunday Kinda Love", "My Diane", and "Winds Of Change" were okay, I can give them a pass for just sounding alright. The only new ... read more

The Beach Boys - 15 Big Ones

This is actually really fun. I genuinely cannot see how people dislike the album this much. Goddamn.

Aesop Rock - The Impossible Kid
80

Production, wordplay, flows, everything about this is sick as hell.

Laufey - Bewitched
80

This is just so damn charming and beautiful. Never heard anything from Laufey before and I'm ngl i wasn't expecting this but I'm very happy with it. Would probably have to be in a certain mood to revisit in its entirety but yea I really enjoyed this. Kinda one for most of the album but I don't find that to be a problem here.

The Beach Boys - Carl and the Passions – "So Tough"

There's something really magical about this one

Snoop Dogg - No Limit Top Dogg
70

It's alright. Sometime's its got really good, slick production and great flows from Snoop. I found most features didn't add much. Especially on the No Limit posse cut "Ghetto Symphony"... jesus this song is bad. Weak verses from literally everybody and the beat is pretty garbage too. Highlights were "Trust Me", "Snoopafella", "Bitch Please", "Party With a D.P.G.", and "Don't Tell". The latter three in particular are really really good, ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
85

For a while I wasn’t sure if I liked swans or not but I’ve concluded that I do. Quite a bit actually. Swans bring an experience that I really can’t get from any other artist, and that’s why I’ve found myself so intrigued with their music and am continually returning to listen to another album.

Soundtracks for the Blind is another unsettling yet captivating experience from the group. I love the uncanny spoken passages here and there. They remind you of what the ... read more

Elvis Presley - Girl Happy
35

I've been reluctant to tap into Elvis' 60s soundtracks and this is why. Before I mention the bad, there are a few decent tracks. "Spring Fever", being the second track, made me think it wouldn't be so bad. "Puppet On a String" feels pretty fleshed out comparatively and "You'll Be Gone" is just overall solid. Now the rest of the project is just EXTREMELY BORING. "Do the Clam" is truly awful. Maybe the worst song I've heard from Elvis. No good man. No good.

Traveling Wilburys - Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3
70

Same as Vol. 1 but the highs aren't as good.

Traveling Wilburys - Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1
75

This was inevitably good. Was I expecting better? Yea. Some tracks like "Dirty World", "Rattled", and Congratulations" are not bad, but kinda underwhelming. One really good thing about this album, aside from its best songs, is the perfect blend of each artists contributions. Nobody ever feels left out and everybody is musically represented. The sheer magnitude of this group also might lead you to believe this album is better than it is, but nonetheless, its quite solid. ... read more

T-Pain - 1UP
65

I listened to this album in mat class whlie my teacher was yapping away. Was semi-backgroud music but honestly for that purpose it was pretty good. I really enjoy T-Pain's cadence and charisma. He offers a lot even when the production and structure of a song is kinda mediocre. However, while he can really flesh out a track, he can't save em all from just not sounding the best and being filler. I'm happy with this. It's really not outstanding, but for what it's worth, it's alright. There was ... read more

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
80

In my opinion, it didn't start the strongest, but from "All My Life" onward, it's straight bangers. Super fun, hard hitting project. Killer Mike is on point as always and the production feels more developed than RTJ 1. On this project it feels like Mike and El-P are playing off of each other far better, and their chemistry shines. This is great stuff.

Lil Nas X - Old Town Road

Thought it was good on release and it still holds up. Not a big fan of the remixes though.
