Well i think i left the best for last… Actor is definitely my favourite St Vincent album, the guitars are so freaking addictive and bland, Annie’s voice is so theatrical - matching the album’s narrative - and vibrating, while *that* *production*!!! So nostalgic and radiant.
⧽ Best: All.
Lord here we go… The rock moments got to be the worst ones i’ve heard this year, something so messy and just loud. The track “OK? OK! OK? OK!” was just inaudible… The slowest songs are the catchiest ones for me, but overall it seems hard to relate with this saturated “punk” and the inaccessible and poorly-honest voice from the frontwoman Marisa Dabice.
⧽ Best: I Got Heaven.
Rock/Folk legend released one of her best albums with theatrical voice, back-to-basics production and exploration of lightness, creating a minimalistic yet fascinating experience.
⧽ Best: I Inside the Old Year Dying.
After the smash hit “Never Lose Me” and features with some heavy names as SZA and Cardi B, Flo Milli fails to make something interesting in her debut album as all tracks follow the same blanket production and unskillful rap.
⧽ Best: Never Lose Me (w/ SZA & Cardi B).
Country-pop star released one of the best lyrical moments of 2018, warming with delightful mid-tempo melodies and relatable narratives, where she was able to show us all her pain and pessimistic side, while walking with a tight spark of hope for a brighter future.
⧽ Best: Happy & Sad.
