They're back, and they're fiercer than ever! This EP is their best output so far. So What is already a strong contender for my favorite Korean song this year.

What are you guys talking about??? This album is amazing!

Bombay Bicycle Club released sweet entrancing jams about the struggles of growing and finding inspiration. Their performances may have not brought anything new to the table in indie rock and pop (especially that it's now freaking 2020), but almost everything on their songs just sticks in a light-hearted manner in my opinion. It's even sounding cinematic at times.

I may be in the minority here, but I think this album is consistently ... read more

I was so hyped to try this because the teaser tracks were great. Guilty Conscience deserves a freaking chef's kiss.

Modus Vivendi turned out to be an underwhelming project though. A lot of songs sounded nice with their silky robotic production, but 070 Shake didn't really bring any memorable performances in the deep cuts. Some even turned out to be obnoxious to my ears. It was not bad but I was honestly pretty disappointed.

Faves: Rocketship, Guilty Conscience, Microdosing, Under the Moon, ... read more

the opening and closing songs are so damn good. but most of the other cuts here are so damn bland.

With his candid strides and despondent attitude, Swimming hits hard... like depressingly hard. It's a sad journal for his heartbreak and mental health for sure. Unfortunately, the sonical cohesion and Miller's hit-or-miss vocal inflections are what made this album difficult to really click with me. It's a good album with all its instropection and honesty, but not thoroughly appealing in other aspects.

This album reminded me of Robyn's Honey... and I hated that one. Fortunately, there are like two or three songs that saved from its horrid blandness.

Liked songs: About Work the Dancefloor, Never Let You Go, Ray Guns
Least liked: Started Out

Edit: Okay, it shrunk on me a day after listening to this one, but I still think it's impressive in Gomez's behalf. (previous score - 74)

I'm surprised. It's actually not that bad. She found the style that suits her in Rare and I commend her for that. Glad she abandoned those horrible EDM drops from her past songs.

Faves: Rare, Dance Again, Lose You to Love Me, Fun, Cut You Off

My sister has been playing Pirate King out loud almost everyday since its release, and now I can't get the song's hook out of my head so I just tried this one for the sake of it; as it turned out, I ended up liking this EP with their interesting production choices, their vocal variety, and interesting concept.

Although not that cohesive from front to back, the first EP for ATEEZ's Treasure series was a promising one. They kicked it off so well with Pirate King and Treasure, and My Way was a ... read more

Been listening to UFOF and Two Hands from time to time to finally click on me; instead their debut album was the one that just got better and better in time for my liking.

One of my favorites of 2019, Self is Universe is an enjoyable and cheeky indie folk rock project that transgress the fragile emotions while tackling selflessness and maturity. The grungy but smooth instrumentation was paired with this beautiful vocals that transcends my personal listening experience.

I really love this one. One of the most solid local indie releases in the Philippines last year.

I started listening to this one last week thanks to that essay video from MictheSnare on YT. It was indeed a great incorporation of jazz in a Christmas record. It's also a very comforting listen. Happy holidays! :)

Mashing up the two decent EPs wouldn't make this stunning or anything. Still though, Psycho is a great way to finish off the year. The other title tracks are great too; yes, including freaking Zimzalabim.

Although I was not blown away with their whole project, I realized this year that I am more of a Red Velvet guy than a Twice guy.

Faves: Psycho, Ladies' Night, Umpah Umpah, LP, Milkshake, Zimzalabim

This is impressive! Yes, it's maybe lyrically repititive and it's not really that cohesive, but it was mostly redeemed by the sleek instrumentations and Harry's amazing vocals. The opening track didn't convince me at first, but as it turns out, there are a lot of enjoyable and heartfelt songs here (Sign of the Times is still his best song though).

Faves: Watermelon Sugar, Adore You, Lights Up, She, Fine Line
Least Faves: Golden, Treat People With Kindness (this one is not good at all)

Like Be The Cowboy, I've mostly enjoyed the key tracks here. It was also overrated by critics.

I never had interest in X's postumous releases, but then I stumbled onto Ex Bitch on a Spotify playlist and I actually quite liked it; so I gave it a try... Yep, I knew it; anything else was uninteresting.

Man, his management is doing him real dirty. I hope this one is the last.

Decent tracks: Ex Bitch, Daemons
Bad tracks: everything else

he's really concluding the year, and the decade, with releasing a horrendous album. smh
Dec 5, 2019
Well, it's actually decent but I don't think "memorable" would be a description fit for this album (so was AM which I actually liked less).

Flashback from 2013, saying that I was into EDM was an understatement. In my family, I'm the only one who has a really stiff body and two left feet so I can only appreciate dance music to my ears. I will never forget hearing that track from Nari & Milani's Atom; I swear it's like it gave birth to Big Room genre for EDM, and I was just mindblown. It's funny to remember that my playlist when I was in highschool were all those rave music that were played in festivals. LOL Ultimate cringe.

"lmao on those two likes from new accounts. While I agree that we all have our opinions (and the title track sounds something that NCT could kill), your review indeed really felt like a straight hate. You really made an account to shit on this album on the actual day of its release, and it indeed feels like a very low stoop, my guy."
