Jane Remover, or should I say JR, has made possibly the hardest album of the year 🔥
I feel like it lacks some substance. It feels like they’re trying to find their sound and I do think they are capable of more. Was overall relatively fun listen tho
Incredibly cinematic and emotional
The vocals at times are a lil too “bad” for me at times though I normally don’t mind some angst. Still very beautiful
Dudu might actually be my song of the year like holyyy that hook. I can’t stop listening to it. Also fire album cover. Nat slayed hard.
As for the rest of the album, for the most part, it’s a little samey, mostly carried by the singles
The album is like a giant sandwich that has tasty buns but too much mid meat and vegetables. The album is far too bloated with a lot of filler. I don’t see myself coming back to the whole album. Some bangers tho I’m pulling from this fs. I respect the ambition

Fr tho this album has some cool mathy moments that keep it somewhat interesting. It’s not knocked loose but not bad
A nice vibe but doesn’t do enough to hold my interest. I haven’t come back to this album much. Still enjoyable

Very fun pop songs with surprisingly interesting instrumentation and, of course, great vocals

"Idk if I would call them an industry plant but I get where you’re coming from with that. They just got real lucky with the one guy that kept recommending them. I was here when they had under 100 ratings and it had been like a year since the album released. Anyway, I kinda agree. I like this album but it’s not very memorable outside of the title track for me and the 100s do feel overblown imo. I think it comes from the fact that the people that are finding this album are the exact demographic that would love these kinds of noisy and emotional songs with big climatic finishes. It’s not to say this album doesn’t deserve love, it just happened to find the perfect audience on aoty to get the love it’s gotten"

"@kenosis I’m not necessarily saying he didn’t have more passion for this than cold visions, it just felt like that for me personally. He does have the monotonous voice to sound jaded on cold visions, but he does a lot more than that with some passion rich flows and singing, and the songs just stuck with me more on cold visions"

I gave it a second listen and I hear what you mean with the variation. I will say the sounds still felt samey and the mixing feels clunky to me but thats a preference thing and I don’t want you to make music that appeases me over yourself. As someone working on music myself I respect the hell out of this"
