I’m not ashamed to say this was my intro to both artists. I saw it getting a lot of praise and since around January or February this year I’ve been digging into this project and I love it. As well as delving into both of their music but that’s for another time. The sounds on Scaring The Hoes are definitely meant to scare the hoes but they’re not just loud noise. It’s abstract and is really fun to listen to. JPEG’s soul and gospel sampling is amazing and Danny ... read more
This album starts off great then falls really flat, boring uneventful pop-r&b. The weeknd can do so much better album wise but this project does have some amazing tracks.
A classic Jazz album that blends in for the most part to the rest of Jazz in that era. Still a super enjoyable and concise listen.
More familiar with the lighter songs by Deftones their metal approach was very hit or miss for me. Some great takeaway pieces and for a debut album is decent.
A focused Lil Baby gives some decent trap bangers but overall it’s just not a fun listen. Lil Baby is a talented rapper that just needs to get more innovative.
Nardo Wick barely raps, it seems like he just talks menacingly into the mic. The best songs here are the work of the features or the beats. Do better Nardo.
Psychedelic mainstream trap at its best. Astroworld like it's cover is an experience and it's truly riding a rollercoaster. It's missing consistency in certain areas but is still a great album.
An enigmatic jazz rap album who's second half is close to perfect and who's first still brings happy vibes and good energy. Not as pioneering as the low end theory but still a great album to listen to on a sunny day and be graced by the winding lyricism of Tip, Phife and the features.
Aggressive rapping performances and hard hitting beats are the best parts of this album. Zel is one of the most consistent doing it right now. Not my fav project by him an outstanding performance either way. Great features and a decently executed concept.
How this album was even thought of is crazy to me. Kendrick Lamar is a genius, and he's really fuckin good at rapping. Painting a portrait of an experience from his childhood, while still having party bangers like Poetic Justice, Backseat Freestyle and mAAd city. The winding and weaving of songs like Sherane, The Art of Peer Pressure and Swimming Pools. The Underrated tracks on this album too like good kid and Real. And finally, arguably the greatest rap song of all time. Sing About Me, I'm ... read more
I respect the effort and the idea behind this album. To be honest songs like A Keeper and Flights Booked have grown on me a lot. But basic rapping and some wack ass beats set this project way back. Without Jimmy Cooks this would be handily the worst Drake album.
I'm a huge westside gunn fan and I personally love this album but westside gunn has an area in which he works well and he stuck to it here. Nothing was executed perfectly but it was all executed very well.
This album has the foundation of an amazing album, tight, amazing rapping, amazing production, great features. Only reason it's not perfect is the repetition in the lyrics occasionally.
A golden era soundcloud mixtape heavily carried with production and nostalgia. Carti seemed to just level up on the same basic concepts on die lit. A lot of energy on this album either way.
One of the more boring Men I Trust Albums. Repetitiveness and boring lyrical concepts sink this album. Still some decent soundscapes and overall a comforting listen.
Disturbing masterpiece. The lyrical skills of a young and hungry eminem. Expert production by Dre and the storytelling is incredible. Criticize the content of the songs all you want, this album is close to perfect.
RIP Pop, the same beat over and over again with different violin samples just doesn’t work. And it lacks all the energy Meet the Woo 1 had and it wouldn’t have the feature power on a later project like shoot for the stars aim for the moon.
If you would’ve asked me this week after it came out it would be close to a 0. But somehow this album has grown on me from terrible and bloated to not too good and stomach-able listen. I don’t mind the genre switch up on something like Fire Alarm where we still get a great rap verse from Uzi. I think that songs awesome. It’s on something like Nakamura, that’s just bad. Even the “classic uzi” doesn’t perform as well as he could’ve. Days Come and Go ... read more
