The 1st song was so interesting, a little grating but really interesting, made me hope the rest of the album would follow suit but it all ended up being uninspired pop. For a genre so wide, this album just doesn't really do anything for it
Billy Joel is a known quantity and so is this album. My mate recommended me to listen to it and I'm glad I did, really fun listen and will probably return to some more Billy Joel at some point!
Two Door Cinema club is a band you hear a bunch of singles from them that you love realise most of them are from this album. Super nostalgic album and I have a lot of love for it all. A few average or alright songs on here, Come Back Home was a weird one for me. I had already listened to this album before a long time ago but I'm seeing this live so may as well give it another listen to re-live my life!
I liked the 1st song but the mixing was really weird, took me out of it too much. To be honest, it's Mac DeMarco, you know what you're getting with this album. He's gone back to a very acoustic set. I'm not a massive fan of the vocals on this album, Punishment and onward shows the classic Mac DeMarco vocals that we all love but a lot of this album the higher vocals just doesn't work. Overall this album is very basic but very consistent, I don't know what the future ... read more
I was supposed to listen to this album when it came out, only 2 years late lol! Overall very fun album with some very strong songs on here. It is very rare to find a band with such a defined sound on their debut so this is an absolute delight.
I enjoyed Window instrumentally but the lyrics and vocal performance just wasn't it. The title track sounds like bad a attempt at a Hives song with the screaming. This album is really all over the place and considering how good their last album was (which I will give another listen to soon) you can't help but feel this regression is disapointing. The Foo Fighters are at the point in their career where they could just ride the wave of their early work until the sun sets, so I have ... read more
Using the sound her dad helped pioneer in a really interesting way. This album is far from ground breaking but it's nice to see and a much better debut than I was expecting. Bug In The Cake was the best song on here and Mobile Star was definitely the weakest but I still enjoyed this album. Solid debut and hopefully Violet's next album will be a just as good
Resident Alien does peak with it's opening song, In The Meantime, but that is not to say the rest of the album completely falls flat. This is more an album you take singles off. Cruel to Be Kind and The Last Dictator were fun songs while Spacehog was definitely the weakest without the 10 minutes of silence on the final track to drag it down. The hidden track after you wait 10 minutes feeling like you're being tricked and they formatted the album wrong results in a weird kazoo like ... read more
Maybe a no skips album, Digsy's lets it down a little but doesn't take you out of the album enough for it to make it worse. You know what you're getting with Oasis and it's a brilliant album
Very consistent sound throughout, I understand not wanting to break away from it but could've used a bit of diversity in some areas of the project. I loved the opening track though and am a fan of the sound as a whole, hoping more Newdad stuff will expand on this album because I did enjoy it
Very mid 2000s indie rock, Star is the best song on this album. I did enjoy most of this thing but Salve For Every Sore is terrible, I couldn't get into it. Once you get into the vocal performance you will enjoy this album though, reminds me of old school indie a lot and can't help but feel if this album was released in the 2000s it might've got the love it deserves but I'm happy we have it now. A few songs on here also weren't great but very consistent sound and apart ... read more
Really weird one to rate because one song I'd love and the next would be alright/good. overall, I did really like the sound of this album. Mourning Sound, Neighbours and Glass Hillside were some of my favourites. Gonna have to listen to some more of their albums to gauge how well this is for them but overall solid album
I didn't really know what to expect on this one, not always a fan of ambient music, the slower songs were better and The Age of Sampling was for sure the best song on here. It sounds like a really good album to fall to sleep to or have in the background while studying. Overall decent album that gets a bit tedious to listen to after a while
The intro to As You Lie There got me a bit worried but once it followed into a Monkberry Moon Delight kind of song I had hope again. Really happy the guy from Wings finally collabed with the guy from Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band! Been waiting for this forever. This is much better than I expected it to be, not a perfect album but some of the most consistent tracks across an album I've heard from Paul McCartney in a minute. Unc's still got it
The Cribs are selling a vibe with the same old songs on display. I think I found out from this album that I like the Cribs in moderation. The more I listened to this album the more annoying the songs ended up getting. I did quite like the title track but it ended up going down hill from there. Glad to see Gordon Raphael producing this but overall not a great listen, more middle of the road indie rock
Interstate love song is one of my all time favourite songs and I did really enjoy this album (Apart from Pretty Penny).
I feel likes he's trying to be very profound the entire album but half the time it's just a surface level observation and analysis. Some of the songs just don't work or hit the ear well and a lot of themes of songs just suck. I don't know how he's managed it but I think this album is the worst contrast of Morrisseys vocals to instruments on either his solo work or smiths songs. Ended a bit better than the rest of the album ig but that's not saying much
This album falls victim to its time, almost every other smallish English Indie band is making music that sounds the exact same (Shame, FEET, ect.) It's a shame as well because the album could be great if they dared to venture beyond this sound, which has gotten a bit too boring for me now
