This project excels in production and has a few times less songs on here, but his weighed down by how big Jay’s and West’s ego’s are.
Ye’s Follow up album is major step forward, in terms of ambition, refinement and emotions driven than it’s predecessor. The production is richer, the writing is sharper, and the features are used to near perfection. It balances mainstream appeal with deeper themes in a way that very few albums manage to pull off. That being said I do ever so slightly prefer the College Dropout.
While this album does have its flashes of brilliance unfortunately they are buried under inconsistency. The result is a project that’s interesting but not fully satisfying—more of a transitional release than a defining one.
While Playboi’s energy and raw lyrics are what make this project different and Unique, the amount of filler and some snoozes hinder this from being a classic.
