The Soft Cavalry - The Soft Cavalry

this is a beautiful album full of heartfelt and majestic songs. it is heavy on the wistful and the dramatic, but the compositions are so well-balanced and thoughtful that it doesn't become cloying. it reaches some transcendent moments in the final third and is topped off nicely by the sweeping and cinematic "The Ever Turning Wheel". for me, Rachel Goswell's vocals could be more prominent, but that is a minor drawback since everything is fully realized here. I knew it would be good but I never imagined it would be this good.
