A mesmerising record of psychedelic guitar, twinkling pianos, absolutely phenomenal drumming and soothing chants, “Peace and Love” is a roots reggae classic that will leave you spellbound with its hypnotic grooves and gorgeous atmosphere.

This record is really incredible in the way it manages to suck you into a trance, time and space seem to melt away when listening to it in a way that I’ve not experienced with any other piece of music. You just float away on the soft, warm ... read more

In recent years it seems as if we have been flooded with high profile post-punk albums from the likes of Idles, Fontaines D.C., Viagra Boys etc. And although there are certainly some bands out there trying to push the envelope in this style of music, there has been a rather disconcerting trend of bands simply producing watered down, uninteresting replicas of their more talented predecessors. Shame’s debut album fit very much into this category, doing nothing to stand out in an already ... read more

An absolutely crushing listen. No other album captures the isolation and hopelessness of living with depression in the way “Deathconsciousness” does. Listening to this album is an hour and a half of drowning in the deepest pit of darkness, it’s bleakness is unlike anything else.

And this album isn’t just depressing, it is also hugely innovative, mixing elements of post-punk, drone, shoegaze and more to create a record that sounds completely unique. The way the album ... read more

Armand Hammer’s new collaboration with The Alchemist is a consistently entertaining hip hop album, focusing on both the dark pasts of the duo’s personal lives, and the rather dark present that we find ourselves living in today. This new project finds both rappers in top form, delivering consistently compelling verses across the project's 40 minute run time. Neither of them vastly outshines the other, and each brings their own unique set of qualities to the table, Billy Woods is the ... read more

Godspeed You! Black Emperor have defined post-rock as a genre over the years, with no one else managing to match the power and beauty that Godspeed found in the vast undulating landscapes they so meticulously crafted in their early work. As such their break up in 2003 was a great shame, although they left behind a phenomenal body of work, still widely loved today. But the quality of their early work meant that following their re-formation in 2010 they were subject to some very high ... read more

“Blame Game” is an unremarkable but fun release from Beach Bunny. Throughout this EP, Beach Bunny stick to a tried and tested indie pop formula, but with consistently good instrumentation, charismatic vocal performances and a good message behind the lyrics, they manage to create something which somewhat sticks out amongst other releases in this style.

For me it’s the vocal performances that really carry this EP. Whilst Lili Trifilio isn’t the greatest vocalist ever she ... read more

Seeing your highly rated albums I noticed that you enjoy noise/experimental rock music more than dream pop (swans, Velvets for example) so I definitely get your point. But the boredoms are totally different from my previous recs tho, disjointed, directionless instrumentals to pointless conversations between the bandmates. So hilarious and you just can't hate it. It's like can on meth. Hope you'll enjoy them

Since you've gave me so much information about the genre, I wanted to show these albums in return and hear your thoughts on it. If you like
the recent 파란노을 (Parannoul) album you'll love 'em

Thank you for the kind words, friend. Also, It's really good to hear about your Gelug enjoyment. I have to say its sound may be a bit far off from what I am currently looking for in music, but I'd be lying if I said I don't hold that project in some regard. As a matter of fact, we had been working on new music for the past year, but that has been put on hold as well. Maybe in a near future. Again, thanks for the interest, and for the really gentle words.
