Ghost Mountain - OCTOBER COUNTRY
74

Sematary if he was more listenable basically. His vocals are much better, too, in my opinion. He's actually got some really catchy choruses that stick with me. Although he still has untapped potential, this is a great comeback project from Ghost Mountain.
Fav Tracks: Moulder, Stalks, Damien
Least Fav: The Lake

Mike Shabb - shabbvangogh
58

I really wanted to like this, but it just won't click. I think his flows are too off-kilter for some of these beats. One thing that points him in the right direction is his beat selection. Instrumentally, I was entertained. I just wish he had given a better performance.
Fav Tracks: breakadawn, underground legend, isco duck II + outro
Least Fav, splash bros

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
60

Starts super energetic, but I feel like it dies down in the second half. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll be returning to it apart from a few select tracks. maybe it's just not for me, idk.
Fav Tracks: Disease, Vanish into You, Die with a smile

青葉市子 [Ichiko Aoba] - Luminescent Creatures
85

I don't know what she's talking about, but it sounds very good. sounds like I'm walking in some mystical forest. Love the more ambient passages on this album.
Fav Tracks: COLORATURA, tower, Luciférine
Least Fav: mazamun

Panda Bear - Sinister Grift
81

Psychadelic pop that hits you right in the feels. Turn this album on, and you are ready to have the most chill 44 minutes of your week. I love the mix of his vocals. They sound like they are emerging from a pit in the ground while sunlight is blinding your eyes. idk this album is cool though.
Fav Tracks: Anywhere But Here, Ferry Land, Defense
Least Fav: Elegy for Noah Lou

PARTYNEXTDOOR - $ome $exy $ongs 4 U
33

This album is very boring. I kinda wish he had never collaborated with PND, as I find him to be incredibly boring and uninspiring vocally. The beat selection is very poor, and their vocal performance does not do it justice. A lot of the tracks sound longer than they are.
Fav Tracks: CN TOWER, NOKIA
Least Fav: MEET YOUR PADRE

venturing - Ghostholding
70

Jane Remover, but it's actually venturing. The final leg of the album is spectacular and definitely carries the album. After dead forever, Jane just cannot miss. The drums on this sound really good, too.
Fav Tracks: Dead Forever, Halloween, Sister
Least Fav: No Sleep

Feng - What The Feng
80

A super fun project from up-and-coming artist Feng. The beats are fresh and bring this feeling of Y2K that seems to be coming back. he implements a feeling of nostalgia all whilst making it feel fresh and modern. The raps are fun and super down to earth, which I feel adds to his charisma.
Fav Tracks: Kids from the west, XY, Left for USA
Least Fav: YOLO

Westside Gunn - 12
75

A good addition to the HWH series thing. Westside Gunn is finally back with a pure boom bap album. After settling back into his lane on still praying, Westside Gunn feels fully back in his element for this. nice jazzy samples and good features across. Although some tracks drag a bit, the album flows pretty well.
Fav Tracks: 055, HEALTH SCIENCE, GUMBO YAYA
Least Fav: VEERT

ZelooperZ - Dear Psilocybin
60

A very chill, mellow album that kinda suffers from this vibe at the end. The beats are solid most of the time, and zelooperZ knows how to tiptoe his way around them. Unfortunately, his flows drag and sound a bit too lazy on some tracks. Overall, still a pleasant listen. Features also add some fun life/variety to the album.
Fav Tracks: Dear Psilocybin, Sweet Celine, Past Life
Least Fav: Kingdom Come (Hyping Me up)

Larry June - Life Is Beautiful
53

The beats on this album are solid as they usually are from the alchemist, my main issue is Larry June is at an all-time boring on this album. 2 Chainz does most of the heavy lifting vocally. Junes' flows are uninteresting and halt the pacing on a lot of songs.
Fav Tracks: Munyon Canyon, I Been, Life is Beautiful
Least Fav: Generation

Oklou - choke enough
92

Some of the best pop music I've heard in a while. The lack of big drums or beats creates such an intimate and dreamy atmosphere that is done so well. The vocals mesh with this ambiance perfectly. A very lowkey but fun album overall.
Fav Tracks: choke enough, take me by the hand, blade bird
Least Fav: plague dogs

Squid - Cowards
78

Cowards is one of those albums that start so well and end so well, but the middle of the album makes it drag a little bit. The sound and the atmosphere they create on this album were really unique to their discography, which I thought they explored really well.
Fav Tracks: Crispy Skin, Showtime! Well Met (Fingers Through the Fence)
Least Fav: Cro-Magnon Man

MIKE - Showbiz!
73

After pinball, MIKE returns to some more soul-sampling abstract hip hop comfortably. The short tracks and constant mood switches are pleasant. This style, in my opinion, is MIKE's bread and butter. It does kinda blend into one at times, something I thought Burning Desire did a bit better over the whole album length.
Fav Tracks: man in the mirror, Da Roc, Lucky
Least Fav: Showbiz! (Intro)

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow
90

A spectacular ending to The Weeknd's character and his final trilogy. Filled with hard bangers as much as it is filled with slow, tender moments. The tracklist is very long, but it flows so well that it doesn't matter. One of the most cinematic albums I've listened to.
Fav Tracks: Open Hearts, Enjoy The Show, Niagara Falls
Least Fav: Timeless

Ghais Guevara - Goyard Ibn Said
75

A very solid album debut from Mr. Guevara. The beats a fresh and polished, but still go incredibly hard. The second half is overall a lot better, although the highest highs are on the front end of it.
Fav Tracks: The Old Guard Is Dead, I Gazed Upon The Trap With Ambition, The Apple That Scarcely Fell

OsamaSon - Jump Out
70

An overhated release from Osamason in my opinion. A lot of people didn't like the mainly dominant production from OK, which is probably my favourite part. Osamason is hit or miss on this. My enjoyment of the tracks depends on the beat selection, which is done well on this.
Fav Tracks: GTFO The Room, Frontin, Ref
Least Fav: Break Da News

Benjamin Booker - LOWER
67

This album was a bit hit or miss for me. I found the production really interesting, but I felt like the vocals didn't fit in very well sometimes. The songs where it worked are absolutely stunning, though. The shining factor on this album was definitely the production. Dark trippy hypnotic production is right down my alley, usually. I just wish he had a more interesting vocal delivery. Maybe I just don't get it.
Fav Tracks: POMPEII STATUES, SLOW DANCING IN A GAY BAR, SAME KIND OF ... read more

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
81

This album is uniquely great. Twigs has a super interesting soundscape on this. The production sounds spacey, and the way her vocals are mixed makes me feel like I'm walking into a kind of mystical forest, only I'm in a club of some sort. all these words to say, really cool.
Fav Tracks: Eusexua, Sticky, Striptease
Least Fav: Childlike Things

Mac Miller - Balloonerism
85

An album that was apparently supposed to come out in 2013, getting posthumously released 12 years later, shouldn't sound this good. This album sounds so polished and well-produced. I hadn't heard this album before the official release, and this sounded so refreshing and clean. Rest in peace, Mac Miller, gone way too soon.
Fav Tracks: 5 Dollar Pony Rides, Funny Papers, Ricks Piano
Least Fav: Transformations
