“If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound, That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more: 'Tis not so sweet now as it was before.
O spirit of love! how quick and fresh art thou, That, notwithstanding thy capacity
Receiveth as the sea, nought enters there, Of what validity and pitch ... read more

Kandz Album Challenge Pt.1: Evolution of Car Ads

For April, Kandz devised a scheme that he later named a "challenge" so more people wanted to play it, the idea was for each day of April, you would swap an album with a partner and try to listen and review it for points, most points wins. After somehow lucking out and pairing with the server owner Kandz, my big mouth got Kandz to add bad albums into the mix of otherwise (in his opinion) perfect albums. And if that wasn't enough, ... read more

im glad carti put off this album because of fans

the community with and against carti is worse then most countries, the for carti can barely ever respect critism before nitpicking a factor unrelated to the albums takes to dwell on, the against carti is also so weird, they act like this person has made the wirst music man kind has ever heard, they also are equally antagonistic against pushback, not as ruthless but still harsh as shit.

had to add that because a quick review got hate, heres the ... read more

✨BIRTHDAY REVIEW✨ (06/03)

Whats a better way to celebrate my birthday with a review then reviewing one of my favourite and weirdest albums of all time LOLI by Heikakim. And this might be my biggest review yet.

(TINY BIT OF BACKGROUND INFO) This is not one of the best albums of all time in my opinion, it barely even reaches top 20, this is one of my personal favourites, it is one of those albums that I heard from an age when I was just getting into music and it just stuck with me. I first ... read more

1,000 UK Artists - Is This What We Want?
37

A nearly 50 minute album made by over 1000 artists consisting of nearly nothing but silence made as protest to AI copyright laws, Is This What We Want?

This really isn't a review of music but the lack there of, this album in my eyes fails to emphasize the issue here, an issue that is not hard to see why it is so important. The album was made as a form of protest against the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, is proposing laws allowing for there to be more lentaint restrictions around ... read more

yep it is going to be a fun review

Fun fact, I like to review music but my past 2 out of 3 of my past reviews in months have been on people or communities, want to see it be 3 out of 4

Like always this is split into two parts, one part about the music (the one part i really like to write) and one part about drama (the part i really want to write). I like writing both parts normally because while reviewing music gives me joy in being a chance to ... read more

Long time no see, lets talk about a morally dogshit album and AOTY's disgusting community

I decided to take a short break from reviewing music for a few reasons. The first and most prevalent was just having a break from stuff in general for new years. The second reason is my drought, I felt like I wasn't motivated to write reviews for music and when I was I just couldn't say anything engaging about the project. But the third reason was the community. I still think AOTY has a ... read more

Ok, this is not an album review, this is an artist evaluation.

I have been reviewing Kron for nearly a year now and I have seen the ups and downs of their career, I am not claiming to be a day one but I definitely see myself as being a puzzle piece in the grander scheme of the Kron universe. I have seen some of the downs be very very bad like harassment from others to the point of straight bullying, I bring this up cause early a lot of users got abuse from an account called bitchimacow who ... read more

Another Lonely Sorrow Rabbit - Another Lonely Sorrow Rabbit

A debut and a self titled album? an ambient and breakcore album? how will Another Lonely Sorrow Rabbit combine it all together into one cohesive project, find out next week on, The adventures of AOTY user's, chapter III, dawn of Rob

Another Lonely Sorrow Rabbit is not a name that initially elected joy from being spoken, listening to one of their later songs in hindsight was mistake since I really went in knowing nothing and having my only expectations be other AOTY user albums which ... read more

Ok, quick review. Collab song from two AOTY user artists, Another Lonely Sorrow Rabbit (3d modeler and prolific producer) and Ace of Thorns (hard rocker and pseudonym swapper) who are both part of a band called G.I.R.A.F.F.E. This song is 5:34 seconds, has some cool elements but overall doesn't work as the vocals and production fall flat, good try and look forward to new projects from both people.

Ohhhh, you want a more indepth review, shit. Ok this is going to sound mean but lets go. ... read more

18 DAYS - さらばの精神 [Saraba no seishin]

Dropping one great album in a year is impressive, Dropping two projects in a month is insane but dropping two AOTY contenders with completely different sounds in a fortnight of each other is absolutely wild, like fictional unbelievable stuff. Turq announced this album out of the blue and a few days after the announcement held a listening party for this album, while it wasn't a high profile live experience like some albums are, you really had to be there feel the vibe that was coming off of ... read more

Brey - Elevator to Hell

Now having the first track also be my favourite isn't me staying that the album starts great but nose dives quickly, to me this is more like saying the album has better conceptual pieces then the other works that don't quite recapture the magic of the first three tracks. The first track has many different intertwining and overlapping pieces in it but in a way where every piece has its chance to shine whilst still blending into the main tone of the sound. The distorted sample of a fun ... read more

Ok, so I might have rated this song very highly, putting it as my number one AOTY single of all time (the four ish months I have tracked it) and I AM EXPECTED TO SAY WHY!!! For shame on you sushidigitial for saying "ooooi kade?!? where are you?? you can't just rate the song a very high score and not give me a piece of your opinion!!? please...", you beckoned me over with your harsh words and expect me TO BE KIND!!! Well of course I will, I really like this song, thanks for ... read more

don't rest now, fix your eyes onwards and maybe you'll see the sunrise before it all goes dark

pretty funny title for an EP, this is just a few songs that i made for a collab with another artist, it started out by making 'lay your eyes' but i liked the eerie vibe of it enough to make two more in the same style. This EP i just a collection of 3 tracks from a bunch I had made in the span of a week, nothing to big.

Ace of Spades (punk) - drowning

People saw Ace drop at the start of October and rushed to release their albums to contest, we thank you Ace for the beautiful month of October 2024 for music, we thank you for putting out a banger...... alright album.

I'm not one to give background unless it works towards the album in some way but it is key to note that Ace had released a previous album this year that was good and sometimes great, the key thing to note about this it is the last album by this artist under this alias as ... read more

Lift Your Skinny Robot Arms Like Antennas to Heaven

October so far has been the best month for music thus far and don't you forget it. I had a theory early on in the year when 21 Savages album came and went while Quadeca was anything anyone could talk about, I said to myself "This is the year indie wins" and it was. If you look back at all the big names dropping this year, they all not only failed here in AOTY land but failed everywhere else, the descustions, the internet ... read more

You are walking downstairs into your basement, shuffling down past the door through the almost fog like atmosphere of lower realm, making sure to press your feet carefully across the creaky wooden beams barely holding up the stairs for which you stand on. Aphex Twin - th1 [evnslower]

th1 [evnslower] takes the dread from #19 and turns it up to one before the nearly the max scale (#5 and #12 are definitely the max scale songs, I don't think a song has ever creeped me out as much as them). It too uses the technique of having droning bass in Stone In Focus but without the piano or drums, it is just a multitude of droning sounds pinging off each other to create an equally out of this world feel like Stone In Focus but even more spine tingling. Not having any drums or piano ... read more

Aphex Twin - #3 / Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev
95

Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev is easily the most theatrical track on this record/expanded addition, the subtle horns and voices work well to convey that as such, while that may sound corny on paper especially for an Aphex Twin SAW II type of song, Aphex Twin uses these themes along with warped and distorted effects to make it seem less avantgard and more uncanny valley. The track starts very quickly unlike the other tracks previously discussed, it starts with some more upbeat but still in its own way ... read more

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition)

how do you explain dreams

Selected Ambient Works Volume II is not only often considered one of the best ambient albums in APhex Twins catalogue but even of all time, by me, I say this a lot. SAW II isn't really even the second addition to SAW I as they feel like completely different products, while SAW were a handpicked collection of tracks from hundreds of Aphex Twin songs, SAW II is a conceptual album created through dreams. While this may sound insane....... Ok it is insane, APhex Twin ... read more
