My favorite album of all time. I go between this and Carrie and Lowell sometimes but I just listened to it again and I get no greater feeling than listening to this from start to finish. Might sound dumb but I feel this album has legitimately changed me in some ways. Buoys is unfortunately Panda Bear’s worse album and while it’s not horrible, it really didn’t leave with anything to take away from it. While your listening it’s fine but remembering it is difficult. I really don’t feel a need to come back to this project but it’s possible something might click if I do.
While this record is well produced and offers a lot of interesting and pleasant sounds. When played together it really comes of as a bit messy to me and all over the place. Panda Bear is able to make it work still but I think making this album a lot more cohesive would do this project a huge favour. My favourite tracks are Boy Latin and Lonely Wanderer.
While it lacks the polish and beauty of Person Pitch, Tomboy is an album where Panda Bear is really delivering with the production and vocals. Everything hears sounds more polished in a way which to me makes it lack the homegrown feel of some of his projects which I usually prefer. I love revisiting songs of this project as there are great deal of really pleasant sounding tracks. My favourite tracks are Slow Motion, Drone and Alsatian Darn.
One of the most unique sounding psychedelic records I’ve ever listened to. Not only is the sound brilliant , Panda Bears lyricism and vocals are superb and create a really wondrous and engaging atmosphere for the record. The pacing is excellent and it’s dreamy soundscape is something I feel I will also feel delight coming back too. My favourite tracks are Comfy in Nautica, Take Pills, Bros, I’m Not and Ponytail.
If you are looking for an album to chill you the f out to, I think this is pretty excellent choice. It kind of feels like a companion piece to Animal Collectives Campfire Song’s as I usually play this album right after it. It’s very minimalistic but the lush guitar work and vocals are so peaceful and soul cleansing it feels like what Panda Bear set out to do here really worked. My favourite tracks are Untitled 1, Untitled 4 and Untitled 6.
