The ol' kozmic blues Janis Joplin sings in her first solo album isn't as aggresively impactful as the blues rock she sang as a member of "Big Brother & The Holding Company" but it does feel more personal and, I would dare to say, even more consistently great.

It doesn't work so much as an album as it does as a compilation of songs, which rarely surprise but range from good to great. I'm not sure I'd recommend listening to it front to back if you're not a fan of the genre, since it does drag a bit, but me, as a sucker for blues rock and a proud bell-bottom wearer... Man, I really fucking enjoyed it.

Let's get the bad out of the way first. To me, the instrumentals aren't super characteristic to me and Buckley's vocals are beautiful but they feel a bit weak (not sure if that's the right word, cause they are beautiful regardless) and I suspect it's because of the mixing. Durante todos estos años Bad Gyal se ha movido poco en términos creativos, pero sí que ha tocado estilos interesantes. En "La Joia" parece asentarse en terreno comercialmente seguro, así que aunque no sorprenda ni marque un punto álgido en su carrera... No está mal.
