I'll start how positive this review is here. This is the best Electric Wizard album...& I LOVE "Dopethrone". "Dopethrone" may be an absolutely heavy album, but this album by miles is much muddier & mindblowingly gorgeous for an Electric Wizard album. The band takes a lot of influence from Sleep on this album, especially for the first few minutes of "Saturn's Children" where it feels like a sludgier version of Holy Mountain (in a good way although it keeps ... read more

"SINNER GET READY" is definitely a difficult listen, mainly b/c of the album's sort of droney sound & the fact that some of the instrumentals can be very samey in the vibe that it executes. The main attraction is definitely Lingua Ignota's vocal performances, each song has the grandiosity of an opera (for the most part there are exceptions) which is definitely great.

"THE ORDER OF SPIRITUAL VIRGINS" is a fantastic start, the instrumental has a buzzing drone & a cool ... read more

My account turned 2 years old at the start of the month here (August 2021), & I deleted my outdated ratings & reviews for the anniversary, b/c I don't need 'em, they were wasted space to me & they wouldn't reflect my opinions if I listened to them again (probably). Shoutout to the people that follow me, I don't know what to write here except thanks, y'all put up w/ me barely writing reviews during every month (it's like 1-2 times a month it's bad). Shout out to the discord servers, ... read more

"The Angel and the Dark River" is a massive improvement from their previous albums which I already loved for the most part. The sound of this album is much cleaner in comparison w/ their previous albums, but the guitars are arguably crunchier than before, which makes for a fantastic sound.

"The Cry of Mankind" opens the album superbly, w/ a hypnotic 6-note guitar line that plays throughout most of the song, guitar chords that're oh so crunchy, & wailing feedback. This ... read more

Although there's definitely a lot to hate about this album, I can't help but just be in the middle about it, as its main problem in my opinion is just being relentlessly bland & uninteresting electronic-leaning metalcore.

I'd go into detail on every single song, but I can sum up my feelings on the album as a whole by just stating its 3 main problems, b/c most if not all the songs suffer from this (especially the 3rd issue).

1. Abundant use of autotune, & not good autotune at that. ... read more

I'm bored and so decided to make another community list; this time,

What is a record you believe has defined its genre albeit through exemplifying its sound, shaping said genre, or has established said genre in popularity and/or existence, and why?

Hey, I hope you're doing well.

I'm making a list where, judging by AOTY users' individual top ten albums, I'm compiling a ranked community top 100. I'd love it if you could contribute by just replying with your top ten ranked from 1-10; I'm totally fine with being redirected to a ranked favourites list of sorts, if that's what you'd prefer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and replying, if you do.

Hey, I hope you're doing well.

I'm making a list and I'd love to know which album has had the greatest influence on your current taste in music? If you want, I'd also appreciate it if you could say exactly how it's made you grow/learn more as a listener (don't worry, you don't have to do this part).

Thank you for reading and answering, if you do.
