Squid - Bright Green Field

So far this decade we’ve been treated to what feels like another golden age of post punk. black midi and Black Country, New Road arguably at the forefront since they both have been releasing nothing but stellar work in the 2020s.

Squid follows this with almost an LCD Soundsystem meets The Rapture sound. The lead singer is easily the most interesting part of this group. I loved his insanity on Narrator, a highlight from this short tracklist.

While instrumentally I don’t think they’re quite at the level of BCNR or black midi, Squid is definitely putting up a promising front. Not all of the tracks totally stuck the landing as there is a bit of a lull halfway in, but this band will definitely be one to watch in the coming years.

Bump This: Narrator, Peel St.
