This reminds me of White Pony, there's a subtle ethereal vibe going on on top of the heaviness they're highlighting. Short 'n' sweet, perfect teaser, I hope the rest of the album's songs are longer & dive more into this kinda vibe.
Nothing but fucking banger after banger, the best introduction to sludge metal i could think of, doom metal too if you want to throw it under there, absolutely amazing album, incredible vocals, always a patch i'll have on my battle jacket, absolutely peak for 2001 as well
Honestly could be better, i feel like Kendrick didn't even want to drop this album, evidenced by that tweet, and it feels like he didn't give as much as he could on this. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a lot of this album, but so much of it sounds like he was holding back, and I'm gonna need him to go all out again.
Truly superb, they brought back their 80's selves, it really feels like it was released like immediately after Disintegration, as if I were to have heard some of these songs on the album. "I Can Never Say Goodbye" especially, that one is a true 10/10 track, it was extremely beautiful, and radiated an indescribable feeling. I think it's probably the third best Cure album tbh, if I were to rank them it'd be
Disintegration
Pornography
and then Songs of a Lost World
The drone to pink floyd-esque riff and atmosphere switch is one that needs to be studied in the labs.
Pretty damn good, it's a shame it's not on spotify..
I sat through the entire hour and four minutes of this album, it was not worth staying after the third song..
The first three songs are pretty good, the first one is amazing, but after that there's not a whole lot going on with the album, kinda like varg's creativitiy kinda just, left. I waited through the entirety of track 5, and jesus, after it hit the 8 minute mark, IT STAYED THE SAME FOR THE NEXT 17 MINTUES...
Eitherway, Dunkelheit and Jesus' Tod are really good, would ... read more
This voidgaze* stuff is like a drug, i can't get enough, i need MORE RN!!!
*I called this album "voidgaze" on my other account because it clearly has shoegaze influence but it's considerably more heavy than shoegaze. Alternative metal is too much of a bandaid solution to call the album, it really comes into it's own and produces it's own sound and feeling. I called it voidgaze because it truly feels like you're gazing into the void at times, very remarkable ... read more
Possibly one of the greatest metal albums I've ever listened to, there's no skips and even though the songs are on the longer side, the whole album seemed so short, an amazing record, highly worth the listen, in fact I wish it was longer, this was a banger.
A lot of sluggish moments, where a lot of the album bleeds together, but Spiritual Cramp & Romeo's Distress are bangers, if Deathwish was actually put onto the album it'd probably be an 80 or an 85, but sadly it's not so. A staple of Deathrock and goth culture for sure.
The album opens on a hauntingly beautiful opening track that goes perfectly into the next song, snapping you out of whatever trance you were in, as if someone just pulled you back into the real world while dancing at the goth club. Unfortunately, it doesn't keep that high, and instead brings you back down.
I know a common criticism of music that's called goth is that it's "boring" and repetitive, but this album unfortunately does that exact same thing. I'm no ... read more
1. 80, solid opener,
2. 75, really beautiful imo, I can tell it probably isn't for everyone, but for me, it's pretty good
3. 100, this is a song you bump in the car, feels like you'd be outrunning the cops on the highway while arguing with your best friend
4. 70, The riff is definitely something, imagine if Korn's Blind had a baby with pretty much any Sublime song.
5. 90, This track got my head bumping immediately, then the lyrics came on, probably one of my favorites off of ... read more
Quite possibly one of the greatest albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. The entire album is a ride that doesn't stop, making you think, feel, and gets you into an unforgettable mood mixed with rage, sadness, and some secret third thing I can't put my finger on. Relatable lyrics, highlighting important social issues, fire features, amazing beats, not long at all, this album has it all. Can't wait to see what Denzel does next, this could very well be his Magnum ... read more
Pretty solid release, some enjoyable moments but it's got the unfortunate addition of Rick Ross on the track listing. ULT is not the greatest opener, I prefer Gook heavilly, and If Tomorrow's Not Here is an amazing closer. The album is definitely super strong, with a lot of good songs, but it's marked with some forgettable tracks.
pretty good album
original score: 85 > 83
The Neden Game is objectively terrible
immediate step up from riddle box, production is top notch and they set the vibe immediately
the second track reminded me of goth music for some reason? sue me, I don't know why, digged the vibe
hokus pokus is a straight 10. instantly recognizable, J and Shaggy pop off
piggie pie, how many times, and southwest voodoo were pretty good
halls of illusions is a fucking banger, another 10/10
under the moon is pretty damn great, ... read more
I like this compilation more than their self titled debut album. It's longer and gives you more material than the self titled, and the bass really shines on this one. There are straight up 10/10 masterpieces, *multiple times* on this album. Amazing release.
Idk why but "I Don't Owe You Anything" was boring to me, I wasn't really feeling it. Same thing with "You've Got Everything Now". Every other song on the album is a memorable banger, truly let the world know who the Smiths are and why you should care about them. Classic album, great release, all very talented people. Everything I have to say about this album has been said before.
idk genesis gave me diamond eyes vibes, just a good deftones song but nothing remarkable about it, personally wish that ceremony was the album opener instead because it's literally a 10/10 song.
urantia better than genesis but def a step down from ceremony
error was great ngl, better than urantia but there are better deftones songs, very much so better than gore atm tho
the spell of mathematics is super fucking good, can listen to that shit all day
pompeji was okay until the ending, and ... read more
