I want to like this!! I am still waiting for it to click and will give it a few more listens. It seems completely up my alley but have not been successful in liking this for some reason.

I like this quite a bit but sad, spacey ambient is my weakness so take my opinion on this with a grain of salt.

Yep I love this. A lot. I admit I’m a sucker for this genre and this album is pretty conventional for atmospheric black metal. But it’s still a super impressive record that I’m sure I’ll be returning to all year long.

There’s some songs on here that really don’t work for me, but a lot of the album I honestly love. I’m surprised how much of an impression this has left on me. Some of these hooks have seared themselves into my brain and I find myself humming them constantly.

A weird listen that I recommend.

I don't know, maybe it's just me. But this kind of dreamy indie folk is so boring to me. There is nothing compelling on this project. I want to like it, but somehow am always uninterested in albums like this.

I totally get people hating this and thinking it's just hipster garbage, but I think it's amazing. The album bounces back and forth between frantic and subdued and these two extremes compliment each other really well. Songs like Ice Cream Truck, Mary Turner Mary Turner, and Scisssors are just total descents into madness, while tracks like The Wrong Thing and Normal Love are just gorgeous. Pumpkin Attack has grown on me so much and has honestly become one of my favorite Xiu Xiu songs ever.

Better than most albums in this genre. Considering how slow January has been (in my opinion) I'll gladly take this.
