The pairing of Aurora and Tom makes so much sense to me, You can really feel the fun they had creating this, everything sounds very intentional and realised. Every track has amazing sound design and selection that pairs well with Aurora's stylish vocals. I particularly like how 'in your face' RING THE ALARM is, something that really grew on me after multiple listens.
Criminally underrated, clearly so many influences that have been channelled into some really expertly polished, coherent tracks with great mixes and masters. An interesting Electronic/hyperpop take on hip hop with lots of ear candy and fun effects. I love how well this collective's voices mix together throughout, constantly keeping things fresh.
A display of why Goldie and Submotive have been so influential, combining the best of those older DnB sounds with a modern edge and polish. I thought the album version of 'still the same' was underwhelming though, it's stretched structure didn't make sense to me. 'Secret Handshake' is a great example of the Project's hard drops and brooding atmosphere. Hearing the extent of some of the subs live at Joshua Brooke's was absolutely ridiculous.
Not as innovative or unique as their previous projects, lots of recycled ideas and an over abundance of boring 808 centred trap beats for an ‘alternative’ album. A couple of enjoyable tracks but I felt like they removed what was interesting about them to try and appeal to a wider audience.
