Kanye West - BULLY
62

not up to date with the latest Ye lore, but the cover looked funny so i thought i'd check it out

Gingerbee - Apiary
74

the screaming kinda butchers some of these songs for me, but still a pretty good time nonetheless.

GUM - Blue Gum Way
80

i have a feeling this guy is a fan of the color blue

Gorillaz - The Mountain
87

absolutely breathtaking compared to some of their last endeavors. the singles were definitely the highlight of the album, but there's still a few gems in the rest of the tracklist. will definitely be listening more soon, since i think a couple of these songs i have yet to come around on. truly a monumental step for Gorillaz, and they better have a banger deluxe coming up next.

also screw spotify for refusing to play this album until i liked every song for some reason???

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
85

reminds me of tally hall in the best way possible

The Beatles - Abbey Road
82

second half is so damn short but those transitions go crazy

Quadeca - Voice Memos
54

really good !

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
73

EDIT: 70 -> 73
been giving it a lot of time to simmer, now i think i can give my final thoughts.

the highs of the album—Dracula, End Of Summer, and My Old Ways in particular—are genuine bangers that i've come back to plenty of times. however, the middle of the album is incredibly lackluster, especially with songs like Not My World. i'd also like Obsolete a lot more if it weren't for those goddamn ascending notes at the end.
thankfully, the album picks up with See ... read more

Radiohead - In Rainbows
100

the nostalgia never wears off. one of the most mesmerizingly beautiful records i've ever had the privilege of listening to.

Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
68

suck it and see the brick by brick sweep

LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
74

not too big on LCD Soundsystem's debut. a few of the songs here can get pretty grating, such as the painfully long Yeah and Thrills. still, there's some decent stuff here, such as Beat Connection, On Repeat, and Give It Up.
the most standout track has gotta be Tribulations, instantly hooked me on first listen.

while the first half is fairly solid throughout, the second half loses it by the 4th song. Tired is just a mess, and those last 3 songs make up an obnoxious 30 minutes of the ... read more

LCD Soundsystem - american dream
89

some banger stuff on here, and i honestly don't mind the overall longer track lengths too much. highlights for me are oh baby, how do you sleep?, and emotional haircut (why a 79?!)
i will say, black screen has a really nice piano section at the end, but i think it could still be cut about 2 minutes shorter.
worst track for me is i used to, and i have no idea why y'all think it's better than half the tracks on here.

-2 points for that cover though.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
90

just a tad weaker than Sound of Silver, mainly because it can drag a bit in the second half. seriously, this album is almost 10 minutes longer than their previous! but other than that, it's still a great listen.

Radiohead - Knives Out
80

dude Worrywort is so peak. it sounds like a completely different band wrote it, yet it's still so mesmerizing and such a bop. Cuttooth (which isn't on here for whatever reason) is also quite good, same goes with Fog.
i'm not big on the full length version of Life in a Glasshouse though, the extra 30 seconds don't add much. and Knives Out is still great, as per usual.

good collection of B-sides overall. still have a long list of EPs and singles to go through after this.

Radiohead - In Rainbows Disk 2
83

solid collection of In Rainbows leftovers. most of these songs are just "pretty good" and nothing else, but Last Flowers and Bangers + Mash are some real standouts.

Grizzly Bear - Friend
85

a very solid collection of remixes and bonus material, covers aside. the first 3 tracks are absolutely gorgeous, especially Alligator (Choir version). He Hit Me is a fantastic deep cut, and Deep Blue Sea is a lovely closer. so yea, the Friend EP is a fitting send-off to the Yellow House era of the band. good stuff.

...but if i included the covers in the score, we'd be having a very different conversation.

Radiohead - Spectre
100

incredibly haunting and eerie, but just a beautiful track overall. (and very underrated)

Grizzly Bear - Horn of Plenty
65

they struck gold once here but forgot to do it again, leaving us with a very mixed and boring debut

EDIT: it grew on me a bit. still pretty messy and bloated, but there are definitely some highlights.

Foster the People - Supermodel
90

despite foster's glaring decline ever since their first two albums, said first albums manage to go unbelievably hard and stand the test of time. this especially applies to Supermodel, foster's best album to date.

there's not a single miss on this album (the angelic welcome is an interlude, so it doesn't count), and anyone saying the last 3 songs are boring should reevaluate their life choices. while this release is often labeled as a sophomore slump and criminally ... read more
