Willy Rodriguez - wetdream

whatever sound this record is going for it does extremely well. all of the melodies in the vocals and the instruments go exactly where i want them to go in the most satisfying way. when you pair that with the inexplicably noisy drums that drown everything out and the raw untuned emotional vocals it really does come together to make this a great listen. love this, love how it’s kinda CSH coded, and excited to hear what this person has next.

slayr - Half Blood

to me what this album has that other underground rap albums don’t have is ambition. this dude rly wanted to make a rly well put together project that covered a lot of different sounds, with fun ideas, crazy flows, fun transitions with little filler. if this is the future of the scene it’s going uphill for sure. love it.

this is just pure and true innovation done to the upmost level. music has never sounded like this, and the unimaginable amount of styles and sounds that weave in and out of each of these songs is nothing short of addicting. with a mixture of catchy choruses, over the top production, beautiful guitar riffs, cheeky sound effects, and never thought of before ideas, this is truly something to be spoken about highly. jane has been one of my favorite artists of the decade so far, and this EP ... read more

one of the most exciting hip hop projects to come out in the last couple years. it's a perfect blend of something new but something familiar and easy to get into. if you can't get down with shit like this u need to get ur ears fixed.

Glitch Cat - No Rights Reserved

im such a sucker for this shit. i love fl studio

Michael Jackson - Thriller

genuine pop perfection and probably objectively the most enjoyable album ever made. the production on here is so layered and it feels like every instrument has a melody so catchy it lives beyond itself. the vocals are stunning, obviously. i really enjoy how maximalist this is for a pop record, it’s really refreshing and makes it for such an immersive experience, you could focus on so many different sounds and it’s so fun to do. classic.

Death - The Sound of Perseverance
84

this album is a lot to take in lol. it's very very heavy stuff (for me at least) for a long (ish) runtime, so it took some getting used to, but once you lock into the groove and sound it rips and i mean it RIPS. amazing musicianship, vocals, solos, drumming and bass were all on point and perfectly portrayed the emotion they were trying to convey during this. still a little out of my territory (slightly) but i fw this

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

listen. i can definitely appreciate this, and its genius, but the more jazz i listen to, the more i realize i tend to stray towards stuff like cool jazz and modal jazz, and further from things such as spiritual jazz. because of that i much prefer my favorite things to this, even if it's slightly less 'impressive'. sometimes spiritual jazz can just feel like such an outpour rather than something i can lock onto and make a connection with, even if it's commendable.

Fleshwater - We're Not Here to Be Loved
87

loved this. tastefully messy production, beautiful vocals, and killer riffs. nothing life-changing, but a really short, sweet, and punchy listen

OsamaSon - psykotic
84

this shit is so hard im glad it bangs as much as it does and not like jumpout which i found to be a slight dissapointment the production on here is so forward thinking and youthful which just excites me so much and sama is flowing on almost all of these tracks. there are only a few dulls and i love how it didnt feel that repetitive

Geese - Getting Killed
84

cool stuff. that second half or rather the last 4 songs really carry the weight of the quality in my opinion, or at least that's the sound that just helps me to connect to this band. what a voice and what a cool vision. excited to see where this band goes from here, hopefully more in the direction of those last few tracks

Maruja - Pain to Power
90

what a band. what a record. what a way to start your career (technically). i love maruja, got to see them live last year and they were fucking wicked. i was anticipating this for a long time and i am so happy it is as high quality as it is, my god. they killed it. and not in a one trick pony way, but there are so many different styles and emotions displayed here and all of them are done in such a powerful way. can't wait to see where the rest of their career goes over this.

Jane Remover - Indie rock
80

i think its far from her best, but i think everyone including jane knows that and she just wanted to fuck around and scream on some 808s, and it's still gas

Lil Uzi Vert - Luv Is Rage 2
87

i love uzi and i love this. great stuff, there are definitely some songs on here that could be replaced for some other crazy good stuff uzi had in this era, but even with those slight sleepers this is still a great project that reminds me of my high school days. love love love

today i lost the most important person in my life, and it felt right to dedicate this review to her, as it’s an important one.

i broke up with my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years today. she was my first love, my first crush, my first relationship, my first kiss, my first everything. i met her when i was 16, i just turned 20. she’s helped me grow into the man i am am today, in fact she’s a massive part of it. i wasn’t expecting to have it end today, but she ripped off a ... read more

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

the musical equivalent of a collage. this is such a cool fucking listen man oh my god. the sampling on this and how it’s utilized is unheard of for me, and it’s equally as fun as a listening experience. never heard an album like this before, and my god did i enjoy it.

Deftones - private music
87

they’ve done it once fucking again. in my opinion, for the most part, the best they’ve sounded in over 10 years. this is a great album with a few sleepers, but mostly bangers. i think on a few of them if steph could stray away from just damn power chords and try and take some inspiration from his work on white pony, it could elevate the record even more, but it’s still amazing.

TOOL - Lateralus
90

this shit is absolutely mind blowing. i reviewed this about a year ago but since then the progressiveness of this record went from my gripe to what I love about it. the vocals on this are insane and the arrangements are just perfect. every single band member murdered their role in what feels like the literal sense of that word. absolutely incredible. cant believe i didnt enjoy this as much when i reviewed it a year ago as i do now

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
90

totally understand why this is a classic and it’s super cool to see where i genre i have grown to love originally comes from. each member of this band is working at 100% on this, there is no slacking really anywhere. this is absolutely incredible.

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
87

thought this was really great. i like sufjan stevens but i always liked him when he had more instrumentation backing his songwriting and vocals, and that's exactly what this is. i did find myself losing interest somehwat in second half, but other than that i don't really have much bad to say, this is beatiful stuff.
