This is a list for the parents of AOTY :ppppppppppppppp
If I didn't DM you the question, feel free to say yours in the comments :)
I am still adding them :0 so don't worry.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
80
@Ζ¬Π―IΖ§Ζ¬ΛП 's pick:
"Me and my dad are both big Pink Floyd fans, and we've been listening to them for a long time. I'd say that his favorite is probably The Dark Side of the Moon. Also, this is a great list idea! :)"
I totally didn't add the last part :p
@oakie 's pick:
"i know both of my parents and I like pink floyd's the dark side of the moon. my dad seems to have shown appreciation for it but my mom specifically has a big history with the album and floyd in general (prbly coming from my grandpa who was the hippie stereotype back then l0l). ik my dad specifically and I have some hip hop tastes and we both really like j dilla's donuts which he's called one of his favourite albums. great list idea btw :P"
@crystal146 's pick:
"dark side of the moon, its an album ive known since i was like 5 and have never really stopped loving, its one of my dad and moms favorite albums"
Michael Jackson - Thriller
@Rollo_P 's pick:
"An album my parents and I enjoy: Thriller by Michael Jackson - my earliest memory in life was jumping up and down on the couch in my living room with my sister, with Beat It and Thriller and Billie Jean blasting from the new radio-and-speakers set my parents got. I actually thought MJ was a girl when I was that age. Good times!"
@Getoutdakitchen 's pick:
"I guess "Thriller" by Michael Jackson is one of them, while MJ is a controversial figure, to say the least, both me and my parents have a sweet spot for his music."
Gorillaz - Demon Days
80
@Pipe's pick:
"My dad and I both really like Demon Days by Gorillaz, and DARE from that album was one of the first pieces of music I remember hearing vividly. So shout out dad I guess"
Green Day - American Idiot
@BaddieBaphomet 's pick:
"My parents basically hated my music taste since I was able to pick my own music to enjoy, and a lot of the few albums we both enjoyed I ended up growing out of as I got older. However, one album that we both enjoy and can listen to together is “American Idiot” by Green Day. I think it has good songwriting, fun pop-punk, sprinkles of political commentary, an interesting story, and a lot of songs that are incredible relatable as I grow older. My mom and dad just like that it’s catchy and isn’t loud or abrasive. Either way, “American Idiot” is basically the only album that my whole family can enjoy. πŸ˜…"
Björk - Homogenic
@Dabzilla 's pick:
"My parents differ greatly in musical taste, so I'll just pick one my Dad loves as my taste lines up more with him.

Homogenic - Björk

Neither of my parents share most of personal favorites, but Homogenic is a piece that anyone can fall in love with. Her serine vocals that are beautifully orchestrated across this record never fail to leave me and my dad stunned. When I was younger he had tried his very best to get me into her music but failed. It was only many years later, where I had begun my journey of advancing my taste I had finally developed the appreciation she deserves. I told him of my newfound appreciation and he was ecstatic. That afternoon was spent watching dozens of Bjork's music videos. 'Unravel' was a standout track between the both of us. It's nice knowing there is some middle ground between our very different musical tastes."
OutKast - ATLiens
@Ka1 's pick:
"Well me and my mother love ATLiens. My mom grew up with Outkast when she lived in Atlanta back in the US and I just love Outkast because the flows, lyricism, and production is on point."
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana
90
@Kaylon 's pick:
"My mom hooked hard on King Gizzard, so prob "Murder of the Universe" or "Flying Microtonal Banana". We had a very long age where my mom rarely but surely sent me music and we talked about Gizz for quite a while. I got hooked on Gizz when Mike 0 recommended me them, this was around the time that they had completed their 5 albums in 2017 challenge. I don't listen to them much, and the magic that they had on releases like "Nonagon Infinity" has been extinct for a bit. But they are maturing, so yea.

My dad liked some songs from "Fishing for Fishies". He curates his own personal playlists, and some of the songs I have sent him or listen with him end up there. He's more of an oldie type of guy, but he's open-minded. He and I even listened to Schlagenheim together! So that's p nifty, I would say."
System of a Down - Toxicity
@Cakenator 's pick:
"Me and my dad are both toxicity enjoyers (system of a down - toxicity)"
Tom MacDonald - Fake Woke
5
@A4datboi 's pick:
"My mom and I have nothing alike, I don't think she's even bothered to hear or experience a album from beginning to end. As for my dad, I don't know. He abandon us and I could care less about him. Last thing I remember about his music taste it's as (b-slur) who crossed the Mexican-USA border illegally as it gets so essentially we're nothing alike and I'm superior to him."

Alexis is mexican folks, just v mean.
Arcade Fire - Funeral
@Flamingooooo 's pick:
"Arcade Fire - Funeral😌
It’s weird, because my parents usually don’t like the stuff i’m listening to, especially my mum, but they somehow managed to liked this record and have some of it’s songs on playlists🧚🏻‍♀️"
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
@Dombot 's pick:
"Both of my parents are Pixies superfans, so I have to go with Surfer Rosa. I kinda have a lot of nostalgia towards it, I remember my dad playing their entire discography on his cassette player all the time when I was like seven."
Pink Floyd - The Wall
33
@MrMercury7 's pick:
"The Wall - Pink Floyd

I was introduced to this record (and Pink Floyd in general) mostly by my dad. He has this on every format possible. CD, digital, cassette, & vinyl (and my dad doesn't even collect vinyl). I'm not sure if my mom loves the record in its entirety like my dad does but she's loves Pink Floyd also & Ik she loves a lot of the staple/hit tracks from it."

@Musicnerdd 's pick:
"Hi. Well the only album that me and my parents both enjoy is the wall by pink floyd. They are mostly into singers like celine dion so we don't have the same taste. (Except my dad likes some classic metal too)"
Def Leppard - Hysteria
@Baylen's Honest Reviews 's pick:
"Hi! There are quite a few that both one of my parents and me like:

Dad: My dad and me are both fans of "Hysteria" by Def Leppard and "Power Windows" by Rush.

Mom: my mom and I are both fans of "Led Zeppelin IV" by Led Zeppelin, "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" by Coldplay, and "Songs from the Big Chair" by Tears For Fears.

Thank you for asking 😁"
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
@Baylen's Honest Reviews 's pick:
(sorry for not adding all of them ;0;)
"Hi! There are quite a few that both one of my parents and me like:

Mom: my mom and I are both fans of "Led Zeppelin IV" by Led Zeppelin, "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" by Coldplay, and "Songs from the Big Chair" by Tears For Fears.

Thank you for asking 😁"
Twenty One Pilots - Trench
75
@Riskr 's Pick:
"I think my dad said he liked Twenty One Pilots trench!"
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
@thewayiam 's pick:
"i do not know my biological parents but my adoptive parent was the one who introduced me to my favorite album of all time, the marshall mathers lp, around the time it came out. it’s quite a weird bonding album, but we made it work, we still listen together to this date :). thanks for asking me btw"
David Bowie - Let's Dance
@apotofstu 's pick
"David Bowie // Let's Dance.
Banger after banger, oml -- and my dad knows that for sure. I mean, 'Modern Love?' 'China Girl?' 'Let's Dance?' All classics.
It also helps that Bowie is an artist me and my father both cherish. I've fallen off a bit with my admiration, but he was an artist that was foundational in the development of my taste in music, and he's one that my dad got to experience in real time."
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
@cljesse 's pick:
"The Queen is Dead by The Smiths is an album my mother and I both love. There's also Post by Björk which she's cool enough to own on CD"
I can confirm that charlise's mom is super cool!!!111!!111!!

@rafae_l 's pick
"The record that was played most in my family was probably The Smiths' The Queen is Dead. We would listen to that thing from start to finish while eating dinner for a whole year. It still never gets old."
Nirvana - Nevermind
@Fratzolas pick:
"Thanks for including me in the list dude. From the top of my head i can remember my mom really likes Nevermind by Nirvana. I remember even if for the most part she didnt like "loud" music this was one of the only exceptions. I remember being very little and hearing Smells like Teen Spirit, Come as you are and Something in the way all the time, and by the time she learned that my cousins liked it too, she loved it even more."
Slipknot - Slipknot
@josephdcater 's pick:
"I've talked about it a lot, but I was raised on mainly nu-metal and alt-rock as a child, the nu-metal more from my mom and rock more from my dad. I remember the first full album my mom introduced me to being Slipknot's first album, and the first album my dad introduced me to was Weezer's Blue Album. Nowadays their tastes have changed a lot, my dad being more into classic rock and my mom liking folk and country, but their music tastes in the early 2000s really meant a lot to what I enjoyed listening to then and what I still enjoy listening to now."
Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)
100
@josephdcater 's 2nd pick:
The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
@Comisdazied 's pick!
"idk I got my dad to listen to smashing pumpkins - siamese dream once and i don't think he hated it so i guess that???? we dont have similar tastes at all."
What is a dad haha I sure don't have on-
Madvillain - Madvillainy
90
@GeMann 's pick:
"Madvillainy. My mom loves DOOM's voice. One time me and my dad listened to it while driving to a hiking place."
Coldplay - Parachutes
pizzagrande 's pick:
"coldplay parachutes"
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
85
@Andrei 's pick:
"Probably Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd"
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
@bl0nded 's pick:
"channel ORANGE by frank ocean: my mom likes bad religion and forest gump a lot, i used to play that album a lot, my dad doesn't listen to music. i guess my dad liked the self-titled gorillaz
oh and my mom liked donuts by j dilla too"
George Gershwin - Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue & An American in Paris
@eliiscool5 's pick:
"I showed them this and they liked it so I assume this should be the one https://www.albumoftheyear.org/album/277068-george-gershwin-gershwin-rhapsody-in-blue-an-american-in-paris.php, thanks for the inclusion!"
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend
@JacksonLerner 's pick:
"‘legend - the best of bob marley and the wailers’ is an album by parents and i enjoy. bob marley’s music is universal"
Pink Floyd - Animals
100
@Davibitt1234 's pick:
“Animals” by Pink Floyd

My mom is not a big fan of music and the ones she listen to I don't like so much, but my dad taste for music is a little more similar than mine although we still don't have a too similar taste, and one of the albums that me and my dad like a lot is “Animals”, I remember that since I was a kid my dad and I listened to this album a lot together."
Drake - Toosie Slide
45
@okcomputer12127 's pick:
"We don’t agree on anything music-wise😣"
The Beatles - Revolver
@landalt 's pick:
"The Beatles' Revolver I guess, my parents really aren't that into music"
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
@Pio 's pick:
"Me n my dad have always liked, never mind the bollocks by the sex pistols"
Queen - Live at Wembley '86
@Saisawander 's pick:
"Queen - Live at Wembley (album)
Listened it when I was kid, and we still like it."
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
88
@noraQS99 's pick:
"i should elaborate actually, my mum was big on talking heads in the 80s but she kinda faded away from listening to music for a long time. one day i showed her the concert film Stop Making Sense (by talking heads) and she told me that she listened to a lot of talking heads when they were still a thing and we got talking about remain in light. apparently she thinks tina is one of the best bassists of all time and she loves byrne as a frontman."
@MickyT 's pick:
"Remain in Light by Talking Heads"
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
@TomBejoy 's pick:
"Random Access Memories, believe it or not. I talked about it in my cameo on MattsReviews' review for it. Sad times."
Taylor Swift - folklore
@realrealweasel 's pick:
"I'm not sure if there's a record that both of my parents and I enjoy, but I know that my dad and I both enjoy folklore by Taylor Swift. Good album!"
Iona - Journey Into The Morn
@LucMun 's pick:
"Hey Allen! I'd probably go with Iona's Journey Into the Morn. It's the most recent album we've all kind of fallen for :)"
Bladee - ICEDANCER
77
@Chode 's pick:
"My mom only listens to mainstream radio pop and my dad listens to bro country sooo uhh put me down under icedancer"
Eminem - The Eminem Show
Not @ihavetwoyeers 's pick (I just improvised :p)
"my dad listen a lot of albums, but he never talk anything to me about that, i have no idea, maybe Eminem albums, i found that in my dad's cabinet
and my mom, i seriously couldn't guess
my brother, i think he never listen to an album fully yet"
The Weeknd - After Hours
@MrA 's pick (this one is actually the sweetest one oh my god):
"My parents don’t really listen to albums, so this question is a little hard to answer. But recently I found out that my mom really likes the Weekend, especially his latest album after hours. I think a lot of her love for the Weekend is not only cause me and him share a name, but he’s also Ethiopian, so that adds an extra layer of relatability to his music. Me and my mom don’t usually see eye to eye, and trust me we have a lot of problems, but it’s moments I have with her like sharing love for this artist that remind me why I love her."
Rush - Moving Pictures
@Nicoperagine 's pick:
"My dad and I both love Moving Pictures by Rush, thanks for asking."
Queen - Greatest Hits
@August 's pick:
"Greatest Hits by Queen
and
ELO's Greatest Hits by Electric Light Orchestra

My family always listened to it in the car together πŸ₯°"
Electric Light Orchestra - ELO's Greatest Hits
@August 's 2nd pick:
"Greatest Hits by Queen
and
ELO's Greatest Hits by Electric Light Orchestra

My family always listened to it in the car together πŸ₯°"
Rita Redshoes - Golden Era
@Jaronmeister 's pick:
"I'll go with Rita Redshoes' 'Golden Era'. Some fond memories of a trip to Croatia with mother attached to that one. Good question <3"
Live - Throwing Copper
@fucktobymaguire 's pick:
"Live - Throwing Copper

This album means a little more to me: it's the first album i checked out because my parents loved it so much
and it's become one of my most streamed albums of all time because my parents always enjoy it when it's on and so do I and it's just a great moment :D"
Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever
@Doofy 's pick:
"Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever

The soundtrack for a million trips in the car with my family to go for a pub lunch on a blazing hot day"
Rina Sawayama - RINA
@redbded 's pick
"It’s funny because my parents and my siblings have pretty different tastes in music, so in the car, I usually try to play music everyone will enjoy. One of those albums, or EPS in this example, is RINA by Rina Sawayama. You could also put Ariana Grande’s sweetener, but yeah if I am being honest we don’t have similar tastes in music."
Birdy - Birdy
@MikeOwen 's pick:
"I don't really listen to music with my parents, but we've got a few albums in the car including Birdy's self-titled album, which I like and I think my parents quite like as well. I guess it's because it's a very pleasant, undemanding album to listen to. Thanks for asking!"
ROSALÍA - EL MAL QUERER
@Koan 's pick:
"Thanks for asking! My parents have wildly different tastes so for my mom I'd say El Mal Querer since we both love Rosalía. My dad responds with "it's ok" or "turn that shit off" to anything that isn't dad rock, and the artists we both like we've never listened to their albums really, so my only card left would be Kaleo's A/B, even though he won't recognize he likes them."
Madness - One Step Beyond...
@ibrokemylefttoe 's pick:
"since you called me a racial slur i should not answer you because you are a fiend

however my family and i do jam out to some one step beyond by madness"
